    Is this a possibility?

I was talking to a few people and was told that the match server was now on a dedicated box. So since it is on a dedicated box is there any way that we can use the battle recorder function to record things like the monthly matches and or stunt videos? I remember that the problem before was that on the shared box we couldn't give up the resources. So now that it is on a box of its own could we use the battle recorder? I think we could make some pretty kick ass "you tube ads" with the monthly matches around here, especially if you mention that the particular match is going to be used for the ad video. Just a thought.

I know when I was working with Commander on setting up and testing the match server the game itself put very minimal strain on the kick ass box we have. He is still testing and deciding on running Battle Recorder.

I know we tried it for the Feb. PR match however I do not know the results. I am fairly certain that we had it running however if it worked....that is another thing.

    Luke's Apocalypse

    Hello all!

I am Captain Canada, admin and PR officer for Luke’s Apocalypse Mod, and I am posting this thread to invite each and every one of you on L4D forums to come and play a round or two on Apocalypse Mod – the mod designed by Luke to make L4D the game it should be, and keep the game we all know and love from fading away into the shadow of L4D2.

Luke’s Apocalypse Mod aims to deliver and intensely realistic Left 4 Dead experience made for players who thrive on team-work, communication, and playing with friends. As such the mod cranks the difficulty through every means to make a game that really stands up for the L4D mantra of ‘fight together, or die alone’.
To do this, Luke’s Apocalypse Mod introduces the Dynamic Director (DD, or sometimes affectionately referred to as Tim) – Luke’s brainchild that replaces the standard AI Director with something altogether more intelligent and more potent. The DD is capable of many more calculations involving the survivor’s stress level, current equipment, speed, spread, and history (that’s right folks – it can remember what you did last map) to range in behavioural patterns from merciful all the way up to enraged and alter the game to meet different player numbers and skill-level. Rookies will find it a challenge – experts will find it to be a whole new level of hard!
Adding on top of the DD, Luke tweaked Apocalypse Mod in other ways to overcome traditional exploits or failings.
Players will notice right away that all glows have been eliminated – 100% gone! Now you will find yourself calling out to your friends asking where they are, announcing when you are coming fast around a corner, and to check their fire lest they hit you in the midst of a horde. And if they hit you – boy will you ever know about it! Friendly-fire is many times more dangerous – meaning that unchecked fire from a grounded survivor or someone falling back blind with boomer vomit can have deadly consequences. More times than once teams have found themselves restarting because of a cataclysmic failure that started all because of some careless shooting!
Be sure to be extra-careful too, because weapons handle differently in Apocalypse Mod with an aim at game balance as well as realism. Tier 1 and tier 2 are now little more than convention, as all guns have been balanced with strengths and weaknesses to give every gun a claim to fame.
And guns aren’t even the only thing you can carry around – Apocalypse Mod has done a first by including a custom item system unique to the mod. Now these aren’t the items such as incendiary rounds or laser sights – no sir! These items – of which there are only two at the moment – are available whenever a survivor begins a level and includes an ammunition pack that a survivor can deploy for his or her friends when they find themselves running low, to military-grade flares that can be dropped to mark locations such as a downed survivor or explosive item, set up a rally point for the survivors against a horde, or generally turn pitch black into red-light.
Why red-light? Because Luke’s Apocalypse Mod combines realistic lighting with special post-processing effects to make maps both darker and beautifully photogenic as lights and environments are rendered in ways that make them more like a horror movie than ever before (assuming your shader detail is at an adequate level.)

So what else does Luke’s Apocalypse Mod have in store? Tons! From packs of hunters, to crawling survivors, to Tanks that are only really vulnerable to headshots and explosive damage, Apocalypse Mod takes L4D in a direction that is terrifically challenging, but over the top fun!

I’ve invited you to come and play, but what strings are attached? How do you get started? Where and what do you have to download? If you are asking yourself this, then you’ll be glad to know that Luke’s Apocalypse Mod is 100% server-side and that you don’t have to download a single thing in order to start playing.
We currently have 3 servers with 8-man slots operating out of Seattle (main), Atlanta (US) and London (UK) that are completely compatible with 8-player versus or 4-player co-op with 4 spectator spots.
To get the inside scoop we also have a Steam Group that can be found here: Steam Community :: Group :: Left 4 Dead: Apocalypse

Our community is at 400 members and growing daily, and offers such things as screenshots: Apocalypse Mod, Screenshots
    and: Apocalypse Mod, Media
custom avatars: Apocalypse Mod, Left 4 Dead Avatars
    and: Apocalypse Mod, More Avatars!
and desktop images: Apocalypse Mod, Desktops

Luke’s Apocalypse Mod doesn’t stop their either! The mod is always expanding both in the game and the community, and members can soon expect to see a new Apocalypse Mod website, Apocalypse Mod: Survival, and even a selection of Apocalypse Mod Maps!
We are also always on the lookout for skilled individuals who want to lend their talents to make Apocalypse Mod grow ever-bigger with even more exclusive content that we haven’t even begun to imagine.

Grab some friends or make new ones here, and come on out to give the mod that people have called “epic”, “a perfect way to keep the l4d1 alive”, and “OMFG AWESOME ” a try for yourself.

I welcome and questions and comments, and hope to see you on the far side!

“This is wonderfully done, great work on it. I find this very interesting and worth the effort. Thanks for creating such interesting servers man.” – Dr. |<DR>|*Black.

*note: this mod is Left 4 Dead exclusive (not available for L4D2) and requires no special addons or downloads. Apocalypse servers are modified servers within L4D.*
You and the Captain make it happen.
