Thread: TTP Tournaments

Anyways, yeah a 3v3 arena with open teams would be cool.

It would take the factor of "lack of chemistry" out of the system.

If such an idea of captains choosing teams from an open pool of volunteers were to go through, I would definitely sign up. I'd like to try some more focused team play, beyond the public servers.

I agree with the draft sort of pick. Have sign ups, divide that number by six, and have that many captains. Everyone play melee and the first one to die gets last pick, and so on. Then pick draft style. Have a Cevo style thing with one match a week. You and the team you're playing that week can propose and agree on a time and all. Then have Cevo style semi-finals and finals (of just finals if we don't have enough to need semi-finals). I'd love to play. I'm looking forward to this. Let's get the ball rolling on it and get it happening.

Hi All, Vulcan and I worked through a lot of the ideas in this post. So I thought we would share our thoughts...

After the 1v1 Soldier Duel we decided on the 3v3 Arena Mixed Class to be the next tournament (with the help of a in forum poll).

The sad part is this.. I don't think we can actually use Arena mode. There are problems with the configurations of Arena mode that will be painful to try to run a tournament with. To start off the long list, "First Blood" can not be turned off. This Arena Mode feature would cause such an unbalance to the team who gets it.

What I think we discussed was to find a small map on FPSBannana and do a 3v3 small teams cevo like tournament. Where we have small teams of 3, mixed classes, with limits, who run one or more small cp maps. It also allows us to write our own config to remove the crap we don't like. If you guys have suggestions on maps that would be awesome.

We discussed doing a 6v6, but the logistics of getting 6 random people together in a single server is hard enough, let alone doing it twice. If the 1v1 tourney taught us anything, people's schedules are a pain in the arse. As a side note, we thought about allowing teams to get subs, but then we have people almost surely who will sit out and thats not fun. That why we ended up at 3v3 for a small informal tournament.

As for the picking of teams, that is really up to the polls. We were thinking of team and single player sign-up. Teams can sign up and play. We can also post all the singles who want to play and facilitate some grouping via the main tournament thread.

As a side note, Vulcan, myself and 4 others... sometimes soon... will be play testing the tournament style I described above. If you would like to be more involved, shoot me a steam message.
