TTP Tournaments

A while back, people were kicking around ideas for a TTP tournament - I believe the most popular were a 3v3 with random teams, or a clan 6v6. These got pushed off until after CEVO, but guess what just ended?

So, shall we begin planning?

The idea has been tossed around so much. As of right now I see only 2 problems with having a tournament.
- Would it be a resident clan tournament or an open 6v6 tournament?
- How many clans will play if it is a resident clan tournament?

If it's a resident clan tournament, than that's would be lame, as my clan doesn't play too much TF2. Also, other people that aren't in clans wouldn't get too play. I like just 6v6 pick the teams, seems a bit more fair too me. Or, we could do both.

I like the idea of having no more than two clan members per team, if we're not going with clan teams.

That'll obviously even the playing field a lot.

If the teams are just being picked, I think it would make the most sense to get, say, eight captains and do a draft of available players - that would help ensure more even teams, since teams just picking one another would tend to stack towards clans or more talented players, depending on whether we encouraged people to play with their clans or with other people. Random teams might also work.

If it's just resident clans, I imagine misfits and evo will have no problem fielding a team. Bigtex I imagine could also get one together, as could atrap, assuming our residency application goes through. Can killers and chozen each field a full team of six, and if not, what do people think about letting the chillerz play? How about ilo? Could we run a spares team for people like Kyle? How about a high admin team, as was discussed in some other thread?

Why don't we just put this organizing stuff to a vote?

I would hate a "pug" style team.

You'd have to practice with them AND your clan.

I tend to agree, but I also see the attraction - it makes it a lot more possible for people without clans or with clans with a smaller presence in TF2 to play.

if it's just like a 3v3 arena then having a pug sort of thing probably wouldn't be that bad

Don't you have CAL, CEVO, and all your other clan fag matches already? If this is about TTP then make it about TTP, and not your clan. I like Cheese's idea to open it up to everyone. Pick X number of captains, and have them pick their teams, then duke it out.
