    Speaking of metal.

So I am out $255 buck for two medical visits today. Eye started hurting Tuesday for no apparent reason as I was going to bed. Seemed to lighten Wednesday until I went to bed again, which it resume hurting. So Thursday, I mad an appointment with the family doc for today. Cost me $105 for him to take a quick look, almost not notice the object, and the refer me to an optometrist. They charged me another $150 to remove a very small splinter of iron from my lower cornea.

So now it feels like I have a dry, poorly fit contact lens on my eye because of the damage the doc had to do in order to get the iron out. He also dilated it after removal, noting that this should supposedly help with pain. And yeah, the pain is starting to kick in. Took 800mg worth of ibuprofin, so hopefully that keeps it from jumping out on my ass suddenly. Also, it sucks having one eye highly blurred while the other has normal focus. Quite annoying.

I still need to go buy drops and ointment.

So much for my new chain and sprocket, and my new windshield. Sometimes being a contractor sucks.

Ouch Hadji. Hope it gets back to normal for your soon. Whether one eye or both I can't stand to have my eyes dilated. Hopefully it won't feel so scratchy soon. And boo on your doctor, if its gonna hurt ya like that they should hook you up!

But you can still play bf2142, right? It is a screen, you don't really need depth perception. Just close one eye.

In all seriousness, get better soon. That really sucks.

I'm sure I can still play, but won't be tonight. Company coming over.

What sucks is that in order to run 1600x1200 on this CRT at work, I have to use 60hz refresh. It doesn't normally give me a headache, but I can tell it's running low refresh normally. Now with my left eye being like it is, it starts to shimmy a bit at locations that I'm not looking at directly. So if I'm looking at the right side, the left shimmies. Annoying as sin.

    Blinking sucks.

Ouch. That sucks. Give your eye a rest, let it heal.

Sorry to hear that hajji, better let that heal. I did almost the same thing only in both eyes, the doctor grinds out the metal like dentists patches both eyes and tells me I can go now. I'm like where I can't see. At lease I won't be killed by you for a couple of days.

Oh, I'll be playing, believe me.

And yeah, he did some grinding, but I don't know that it was the metal he was grinding. I think he was just grinding on my eye flesh in order to gain enough access to remove the shard. I did have a friend years back who had to have metal ground out. It had begun to rust in his eye.

    Good times.

    Re: Speaking of metal.

Pardon my french, but OW, FUCK.

The pain is really starting to kick in. And it's not like a constant pain, so I can't just adjust to it and ignore it. It's shooting pain, sometimes accompanied by strong burning sensations. This also causes my eye to tear. This blows.

I wish I knew how it happened.

Luckily, a special friend of mine (shut up, Phaedro) works in a hospital and has a jillion medical certifications. She happens to have both percocet and vicodin on hand, and is bringing some by when she visits tonight. I told her to bring whichever works best, since I've never really taken any pain killers before. Sleeping is going to be a bitch without, I'm pretty sure. This ibuprofin isn't cutting it.

Ok, so it looks like ibuprofin works, it just wore off sooner than expected. It also looks like Tylenol does not. Took another 800mg of ibuprofin, and it seems to have improved in the pain department. I'm reluctant to keep taking it, though, as I believe you can become tolerant.
