I'm not gonna go ask someone who is familiar with Photoshop, is bored at using it, and just won't really care. Pasha's new, has a desire to learn, and fuck, already showed a work in progress. I think I asked the right person, personally.

Walker, Darkwater, Thanks for the compliments guys, that really makes me wanna work on some more stuff!! :9

Hadji, I think the most intimidating thing in PS is the layer system thing they have going. It is very hard to grasp, I still have no clue how to do things but eventually I learn stuff through trial and error. I know that is what kept me from using PS for the longest time. I wouldnt mind teaching you the little stuff I know sometime when you are on Xfire and we are doing the Voicechat thing.

I'd have to, uh, buy a copy before I did that, since I don't, uh, own it.

I never bothered with it because it just does so much more than I really normally do. And I don't care to spend hours and hours to make something simple, especially if it looks like crap. I have high standards. Don't need to make crappy shops. Plenty of those on the internet.

Once you get the hang of the layering, you're golden. Be sure to check out "Blending Options" (by right clicking on a layer in the layers toolbox, and going to "Blending Options" in the drop-down menue) when layering. Lots of good stuff there.. that's where you find the drop-shadow effects, beveling, etc.

...and the eraser tool is your friend. ...also the smudge tool. I love the smudge tool.

    From this:

    To This:

Almost completely with the smudge tool and layering.

    Another smudge tool job:

..no origional picture tho.. that WAS a photograph of me.

...good god those are some old images...

    I like it Pasha---good job!

I've been trying to figure out a way to incorporate the 5th into my sig, but creative inspiration hits me sparingly.

If you really start getting into the Photoshop stuff I highly recommend the book, "The Complete Guide to Photoshop's Most Powerful Feature--Layers," by Matt Kloskowski. It is an excellent book that takes you through the basics to the advanced in an easy to follow manner.

Looking at your sig, Cloudfish... I would keep everything as is, and then add a transparent ][5th Column][ the entire height/width of the sig.. so you can see the "][5th Column][" but faded enough that it doesn't distract from the rest of it.

Or do a smaller ][5th Comumn][ underneath "Cloudfish", kept within the borders of the fish

Re: I made me a sig!!

DarkFlower, DarkToker, and now ... DarkWater! It's been added to the list of alternate names people have given me. The name is DarkTower, it's a series of books by Stephen King and ever since I've read it, I probably think about it everyday and how awesome it is. Anyway, not trying to rail on you or anything, just pointing it out.

Layering is a unique concept and does take some time to master, I went to art school and took various classes in Digital Image Manipulation and Design and I am still learning new things. I'd say once you get layering down, try messing around with masking. You can do some pretty cool things with it.

Also I know there are quite a few Photoshop websites out there with awesome tutorials and even some video ones if you have trouble sometimes understanding the lingo and directions they use in the written ones. Lots of them have photos that illustrate the techniques they use and what a finished product would look like so it makes it easy to visualize something you'd like to create using that technique.

If anyone would like some banners, avatars, sprays, etc done, I'm always up for it. I dont think I'm the best that TTP has to offer, but when I have free time I love to see what I can create and like to hear feedback from people. =)

P.S. Cloudfish, what program did you use to create your Sig?

Bottom one is better. The top one looks off center, or unbalanced.
