    Re: DnD

i'm a younger dnd player, getting in near the end of 2nd edition.

I've played mostly 3.0 and 3.5...i know 4th just came out, and i'm interested to look at it.

    Anyone played it?

A friend of mine described 4th Ed. in what I believe are accurate terms, It's a board game. If you don't have the grid map and mini's then it's difficult to run combat. I don't mind playing it for one shot games but I have yet to see it successful in a campaign. For me, 3.5 is the best version out right now.

    Re: DnD

When I saw this thread I went digging around in the closet and found these old DnD things from 83', I know I have some older stuff, just haven't found them yet. The boxes were pristine untill the wife threw them in the junk closet lol. All the books and figures are still mint though. Some where I like 15 or so of the harback books, DM guides, Monster guides etc etc. Haven't played since the 80's but remember it was a blast.

WOW....D+D. I'm 39 and started play almost the first year this came out...I guess it was 1978 or 79....I was like 11.

I got the name Zoran from one of my characters I used to play. The as I got older and played games like CS and BF2 or whatever I would always go back to that name. Hard to think that my player name is 29years old.

D+D.....I miss it. Always good for 6 hrs of your night. Anyone from the Philadelphia PA area still play?

Yup, that's about the time I started playing as well Zoran, 38 here, and too where my game name comes from, well the Axeir part, still use it after all these years for every single game since then.

I have some of the box campaigns from the 70's, ofcourse the campaigns made up by a great DM was always better than the OEM box versions, but still was a great way to experience the game in the begining.

    Re: DnD

Heh heh, I had that set.

I di dnot start playing until I was 10 or so... that was '85 or '86.

If you want to know more about my world, and maybe want to read the book one of the players is writing based on their current campaign in my world, check out the blog: http://www.not-your-base.com/oreth

I still have massive amounts of world data to stuff on there, but there is some stuff to read for sure.. the characters, gods, plants, cities, materials, etc... I have been creating this world since 1990 or so.

That's great Soy, will give it a read over the next few days. That just shows you're one of the better type of DM's. That makes or breaks D&D IMO, I mean sure you can get 6 ppl sitting around a table arguing about this ability, or that spell, just running pure numbers really, but it takes a true DM to make a great game that's full of rich content, and a playable enviroment.
