07-03-08, 12:34 AM #1Civil's soccer topic
So some of you have spoken with me about my soccer exploits either via PM, or general topics. So, I decided to start this topic for all things soccer. To preface the rest of this in case you did not know I am 32, and pretty much have not played competitively since high school/college. Some old friends of mine asked me to play indoor with them this season.
Last night we had a game against one of the weaker teams in the league. We won 11-1, and old fat man Civil scored either 4 or 5 of the 11. I lost count at 3, did I mention old, but my teammates said I had at least 4, so oh well.
Feel free to hijack for anything soccer, or to call me old and fat.
Peace,
Civil

Wow! Now that sounds like some fun, picking on old fat men...! Wish I could have been there....
You see Civil, the guys we battle against in TWL, those are old fat men as well.... so we should very soon start kicking their ass'.
I used to play soccer when I was younger, and put my Son through many years of Soccer when he was younger, even coached his team for one season, good time, good times.
I primarily play Racquetball and Tennis these days, as I'm more in tuned to individual game play than Team play..., but I have learned much about the team play since I have been here at TTP.
anyway, looking forward to reading more interesting stories of your Soccer escapades.

I still play from time to time, but I suffer greatly without cleats :P

Re: Civil's soccer topic
Thats sweet Civil! I played soccer for like 8 or 9 years. Played a little in HS, but mostly it was league play. Twas always a forward, usually center forward, because my strength was my speed. Really wish I still played, but I'm outta shape. I'm huffing and puffing just walking to my mailbox now, lol.
Indoor soccer is a whole new game. I never played it competitively, but I did go to many practices with a buddy who played CISCO for a few years. I really wanted to join an indoor league, but life got in the way.

I played soccer in highschool and college and I still play a couple of days a week. Soccer is a way of life here (Honduras, C.A.). Ever since I can remember, I was practicing free kicks in my backyard, and how to bend the shot, etc.
The school I graduated from has a league every december, where every class(graduated) plays against the other in a school championship, so you´ll see an age range of 35 year old men playing 18 year old kids. (i.e.) Class of ´92 vs. Class of 2000.
But what I really love is my all time favorite team: Real Madrid and of course my favorite national team, Spain. We´ve just won the Spanish League and the Eurocup, so I´m set ´til next season.

Re: Civil's soccer topic
Love watching soccer and i played competitively in HS and College. I played pretty much every position but excelled in goal with my 6'4 frame and long arms. Most goals in a game i can lay claim to however is 3 hehe. However i have not played since college except the occasional pick up game... and my skills have gone south as has my physical fitness so my soccer playing form has taken a hit. I need to work on that....
