Thread: Pardon my ignorance

I have been stumbling around the fourms for a while now and have had many questions but I have been a little embarassed to ask. I don't know if anyone else is in the same boat. But I am going to use this thread to educate myself if you guys are willing to help out...don't care if you guys make fun of your slow Canadian brother...

1. What is a Vanilla server?

2. How does one set-up a game like Jeep has proposed with the buggy thing?

3. When playing SF or BF2, how can you see who the green dots are? It seem some people have this ability.

1.) Vanilla is the plain server... Regular BF2 without any expansions or mods.

2.) The Match server is accessible by all site moderators.

3.) In 2142, if you open up the player list (squad list) and click on a player's name, he/she will be highlighted white. I'm not certain if it is the same in BF2, but I'd imagine it is pretty similar.

1: The vanilla server is the regular BF 2 server. because its plain, like vanilla. SF is special forces

2: What are you reffering to?

3: The green dots are your squad mates. The names pop up under the dots.

Yeah, you can click on the name and the dot becomes white, or click the dot, and the name becomes white (or grey or something) in the squad tab.

There is some meaning to the name.

So how does project reality work? I know it is a modification of BF2 but that is all I know.

Best way to learn is load it up and try it out.

I've only been on a few times myself and it is quite overwhelming to say the least. I think all I accomplished was laying out some sandbags...

PR is essentially a totally different game than vanilla. It takes war sims to a whole new level. Load it up and see for yourself. BEWARE THOUGH. It has a STEEP learning curve.

Where do "I load it up"? Will it effect my ability to play the vanilla server?
