Re: Big decision, but not as cool as Carl's
I'm putting this out there up front - I'm a 360 owner and I love it.
I have also been thinking about getting a PS3 as well. The things PS3 has over the 360 is:
- Built in WiFi (you have to pay $99 for a WiFi adapter for the 360)
- Plays Blu-Ray (360 does not)
- Online gaming is FREE - if you have internet, you can play online. (No fee like Xbox Live)
I'm not sure about parties and shit like the 360 has, so I dunno about that. Does the PS3 multiplayer crap have parties and shit like the 360?Last edited by BigHub; 09-29-10 at 10:00 PM.

I've always preferred the xbox, I had the PS2 first and then my sisters bf lent me his original xbox, and the PS2 had more adventure/rated E games and the xbox had the FPS/rated T games. So I bought a 360, but I have never played or owned a PS3

I'd go with whatever your friends or your children's friends have, then you can borrow games from friends and play online with people you know. The games are pretty much the same, just each system has a couple of exclusives like Halo on Xbox and Little Big World on PS3. Blu-ray seems to be getting less popular because of streaming video services, but the Xbox 360 and blu-ray seems to be nothing but rumors. Then there is the online services, PSN is free but seems to get demos later and less exclusives than the XBox live service which you pay 50 bucks a year to use.
I like the Xbox 360 controller more so that is what I have, but I only play NHL 11 and Red Dead Revolver.

The new 360 now has Wifi built in (802.11n)
360 DOES NOT have Blu-ray support, and according to Microsoft, never will. However, there is a rumor that Microsoft has recruited Toshiba and Sony to make an external one at about $150 (that was in June, though)
It is not HD out of the box, you will have to get an HDMI cable to plug into the console (the console has an HDMI port). Also has a digital Audio Port for higher quality sound (instead of just through HDMI)
PS3 has free online.
PS3 has a web browser (and there are compatible bluetooth keyboards that can work with it)
It DOES have Netflix.
Blu-ray
Also not HD out of the box, since the HDMI cable is not included.
STILL does not support backwards compatibility with PS2 games.
A big plus on the PS3 is that you can buy third party hard drives to put inside of it if you want to up the memory at any time (the 360 you are stuck with the Microsoft HD)
That's basically all of it.
Game wise, most major releases come out for both PS3 and 360. There aren't that many exclusives, although it seems the PS3 does have more exclusives than the 360.
Also, the PS3 has Kevin Butler for their commercials:
Who does Microsoft have?
This guy:
He's the Japanese "mascot" for the 360, and still nobody in Japan wants a 360.
