Re: Need some tech help
Well if the focus is gaming, and future gaming you should go with a newer video card. An ATI 5870 would be ideal, but that also depends on your screens resolution. 22" or up I would go with the 5870, if smaller you could go with an 5850.
Now if you don't need lot's of memory, you should go with an i7 860 and a P55 motherboard. One benefit is that the newer i7's allow for a higher turbo mode. An example would be an i7 920 would turbo +2 speed bins or 266MHz (2.66 + 0.266 = 2.93GHz) while an i7 860 will turbo +5 speed bins or 666MHz (2.80 + 0.666 = 3.46GHz). So in essence for gaming you would be better off with an i7 860. I won't recommend an i7 870 due to the price being almost double an i7 860 for an additional .133MHz.
In regards to an i5 750, it doesn't have Hyper Threading and as far as understand, future games are trying to use more cores/threads. So, 4 cores/4 threads (i5) or 4 cores/8threads (i7).
Hope this helps

Re: Need some tech help
You will laugh at this one.... I had the memory in the wrong slots. I was reading the manuel and there is was. Swithed them and whammo, fired up like a champ. Was pretty easy to build. She is ready for BFBC2. I almost bought bought another card to go with crossfire but looks like I wouldn't need it for now.
