You might be able to use the warrenty on it if you bought it less than 3 years ago, I'd give that a go.
If that doesn't work, buy an Xbox 360 Arcade then just mod the disc drive and hard drive on.I'm an idiot and I can't follow directions. So now I'm also banned.

yeah MS might cover it in their warrenty, might as well try. if not get one without a hard-drive as joe said and use your current one. if there's no warrenty you might wanna try opening it up and trying to fix it yourself, or open it up for someone who understands that kinda stuff and get them to fix it.

The warranty on an Xbox is 3 years (I think). I had similar a problem with mine, go to Xbox.com | Home, click on support, then click on the panel in the top right corner and follow the instructions from there.
If they can fix the problem, they'll give you a postal address document to print off and they'll get UPS to pick it up/drop it off. Mine had to go to Germany and took about 3-4 weeks to repair.RIP Mike Starr

Buy a new house. Its worth it. Try moving it out of your room. Rob a bank. Get detailed maps of flexible escape routes of the bank's perimeter and put them on your dash board. Case the bank a few times before. Get someone in the getaway car, someone watching the door, 1 person at the vault, 1 for any other money, and just one other person to keep things safe. Anyone can rob a bank, most just can't escape with the money.
Sad on your bird dying. My first and beloved parakeet died in Oct. 08. If I ever got one in my sig it would probably be that one.︻┳═- Take a chance ︻┳═-[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
