Okay so yesterday I was mining in Pucherie and had a guy come in a drop anti-matter charges in my can and he of course went red. I was in a ret with my alt and in a badger II with my main.

I pulled the ore because I was told I could do that with out any repercussions, but to not touch the anti-matter or I would be agressing. So I pulled the ore and got an agression timer and was promptly warp scrambled and destroyed by this guy, then he proceeded to warp scramble my ret and blew that up as well.

So can you or can't you?

I know in the future the best thing to do is just leave the area.

did he pop your can completely becomes the question

because often can flippers will drop their own can and then move all of your stuff.

if they put stuff in yours then it is technically your possesions so you are not going to get agrro sounds like they popped your can and it looked like it was they just put some stuff in it but in reality it is a completely different can. so in that case just leave the area. jet can mining is tricky you should be quick when doing it because you do not want to wind up in a situation like you did. if you are getting harassed try getting a Giant Secure container and Anchoring it with a Password. it'll securely transfer your stuff from miner to hauler.

Adding something to a can changes the ownership of the can and consequently everything in it. It also counts as theft (which is why he went red). When he added the antimatter to your can, it became his can, ore and all. You taking the ore at that time then counted as theft from him, which he acted upon.

Although, why did he blow up your Ret? Please don't tell me you tried to fight him in your mining barge. Only the actual character perpetrating the theft is flagged; I assume that was your hauler? Or did you try to take it back twice, once with the hauler, and again with the Ret?

Well one of my corp mates who will remain nameless told me to attack him with my drones :P. Big mistake. So yea I learned my lesson.

I doubt it. He'll let you lock him all day long. You can't shoot anything.

He knows the rules of engagement better than you guys do.

hehe... in this game, you can literally fuck someone over in the worst way. If you catch them and pod them without a clone, they'll lose YEARS of training (if they have it) worth of skill points.

No way to get it back. No complaining to the devs. No money will get it back. Nothing.

People usually quit the game when that happens.

I've never seen a game with a cost for failure that high. Ever.
