I don't think so. Because in reality, once you helped the miner, his buddies would shoot your because you're not blue. Then you get podded back to empire and emo rage on the help channel and in local until everyone blocks you.

Yeah, I'm thinking sucks for the mining barge, but I just fly right by, and why was he out in a roid belt to begin with? Still a pretty cool trailer.

I helped a miner in 0.0 once saved his ass and his friend didn't shoot me, they didn't invite me to join their fleet though. All I got was a free pass out of their turf escorted to make sure I left, which I guess is better than nothing.

On a side note you can be skilled enough to compete with T2 frigates in PvP within 3 months. So don't feel too daunted about needing a year of skilling, before you can compete.

I don't really think they are trying to make this extremely realistic.

They're just showing people how Eve looks, and more importantly, massive fleet battles.
Either way, it was a damn cool video.

Da', you don't really need to play a year just to be able to kill things, though it would help.
