Back on the subject of this thread. I got a call from my friend, Officer Baker today, and he is up and about, back on his feet. He stopped by and we had a nice chat. Its good to hear his voice again as he was not speaking for some time. All is well and aside from a scar that runs from his left ear to his adams apple, he is in good form.

We were happy to hear that the "perpetrator" was "well taken care of" during his stay at the local detainment facility, and we were assured that "there were no visible bruises"..........justice is a wonderful thing.
In light of that, there was no sign of hatred or ill thoughts toward the scumbag that did the deed. That's the kind of role model i want my kids to have. A real team player and part of a true team.

Here is what I do/did,

I uninstalled left 4 dead (went into it's Left4dead/left4dead directory and deleted all of the folders like I usually did.)

Inserted the disc

clicked install

Left 4 Dead window:

Preparing Left 4 Dead files for install:

||||

and it just stays at 4 bars all day, doesn't move at all.

Please help,

I assume you had it running/installed on this computer before?

If so, did you have it blocked by your firewall/antivirus? If the exe has changed, even if you had given it permission before, it may detect that the exe has changed and is blocking it.

Also check your event viewer and see if there is a message.

I forgot to mention that before it started with the whole ||||| thing, I had to click Continue Instillation, and retype in my username and password.

Would that change anything?

Also, I see that in my SteamApps, there is only the Left 4 Dead spanish GCF file.

Now that HAS to mean something.

Is this a Windows Vista machine? Are you logged on as an administrator?
