It always annoyes the crap outa me to hear about rediculously incompetant Doctors and Nurses working out in the heathcare field. Having just recently graduated from nursing school, it particularly poignant to me, being that I'm nearing the time when I'll be entering the field myself, and am completely terrified to be responsible for the life/heath of someone else.

Tyler's doctor appointment went well, his doc put him on a stronger antibiotic, and assures us the infection is not anything like staph, which is what i worried about since that has kept a coworker of mine in and out of the hospital, through 3 surgeries since mid April. And i must admit today it looks much better. But one cant blame parents for wigging out when their kid gets hurt. And the X-rays show no fracture, the kids got pretty healthy bones!

Re: Sorry about my absence.
Update: I need to keep this one short, since so much has happened in the last few days. In short, yesterday my dad was literally on deaths door. Today there are signs of improvement. He is in ICU under constant observation, and for the first time in a week, appears to be "aware" of where he is, but still unable to give a positive response to us on demand so to speak. There is a long haul in front of him, and the odds are still against him, but the family is unified and support for treatment is unwavering. Thanks again for all your prayers and support, I'm sure you have all played a part in the small but positive advances he has made in the last 24 hours!

Re: Sorry about my absence.
Well, i hope this starts a trend in updates on my dads condition. Good news. Two days ago he regained nearly full consciousness. He recognized me and my mother yesterday and the first words he said were..." i don't know if these people are trying to kill me or what", yup, thats my Dad. As of Monday he was on 24 hr a day dialysis since his kidneys had failed completely, yesterday they seemed to be functioning on there own, albeit not up to par, but its better than what it was two weeks ago.
The bottom line is, he has a non Hodgkin's lymphoma that is taking up a lot of room in his abdomen. They say its about the size of a football. Thats the culprit that caused the renal failure, the pancreas to shut down, the adrenal glands to shut down, and the liver to barely do its job. He still does not know the extent of his illness and we are all trying not to let him know, gotta be positive ya know! Hes taking the chemo well, and it is working as far as breaking down the tumor goes.
They discovered a staph infection in his blood yesterday but its hopefully early enough in the game that they can kick the crap out of it with antibiotics. We shall see. There have been so many improvements over the last few days, i hope he can beat this latest added hurdle as well.
Thanks again for the prayers and support.
