Re: Do I need a new laptop?
The price range was 399 to 407... those look a bit beyond that.
The laptop will handle Skyrim's older brother, Oblivion, a step up from the Morrowind which I can barely play now. My desktop, however, will have no trouble running Skyrim. Remeber Scott I always saw you first because I had PR maxed out on everything.
And if Bad company is the requirment then I will never be a part of PHX, because I have ZERO plans of picking that up ever. Maybe when it's in the 5 dollar bin, maybe.Dispatch the DooM

Re: Do I need a new laptop?
400 dollars got me:
4gb DDR3 ram
500gb HD
ATI Radeon HD 4250
Gigabit Lan
and a 2.1 GHz AMD Phenom II Triple-core
Blows the Toshiba out of the water, and the next step up for processor on Newegg was a 500 dollar HP with i3, 320gb HD, and Intel poop graphics.
Psh, It's all about Economic Efficency, and for 400 dollars I'll get plenty of bang out of my buck.Dispatch the DooM

Haven't tried too many new games, but I usually run L4D2 alright, ArmA seems to run fine, as does Fallout 3. GTA IV ran pretty iffy, it would get choppy at times (but the optimizing is shit in GTA IV). I have:
1.86ghz dual-core processor (forgot the exact brand)
4gb DDR2 Ram (on 32 bit though, so not all of it gets used)
~200gb harddrive
GeForce 8600GTM (iirc)
If I upgraded the processor, it'd probably do alright on most games (as that seems to always end up the weak point)

Well based on, ATI Radeon HD 4250 - Notebookcheck.net Tech, I should be looking pretty good to run L4D or even SC2 if i had it because of my CPU. But your 8600 is a high class of card. Even with the slower core speed, it can utilize alot more memory.
