TMD's Vaction Cut Short
I had plans this weekend to go to Tucson to see family, celebrate our nation's independence, celebrate my birthday as well as my adopted grandfather's who happens to have his on the same day.
My girlfriend and I left Ft Worth towards Midland and we got slammed with rain. I was going 50mph in the left lane, we just crested a hill and the road began to turn. The car starts to lose grip in the rear and hydroplane. I attempt to counteract the fishtail motion to regain control. Now we are spinning out of control. we spin ~160° and hit the guardrail on the right side of the road. The impact is on the left front of the vehicle. Just like bumpers in a pin ball game we are launched back to the middle of the road. We continue rotating clockwise I remember seeing recess pieces and chunks of dried pineapple flying throughout the cab. When we are facing close to the correct direction I turn as hard as I can to the left to slow the spin. The left back of my car slams into the concrete divider. Smoke pours into the cab via the AC vents as we slide to the center of the road one last time. I drive to the shoulder and we get out.
Neither one of us is seriously injured but it scared us pretty good.
We drove all 268 miles back home. Mid way through we had to change the back right tire. It suffered a bit of damage in the wreck and the treads were about to come off.
And that's how my vacation ended before it started.
