    Slowpitch Softball

Who plays? What position? What kind of league? What kind of equipment?

Besides gaming, I like to get down and dirt-tay with some slowpitch softball. I play on a Tues and Wed men's league, which is very competitive. Some of these teams look like biker gangs. Bunch of 40 year old men who can't run for shit, but if their bat touches the ball you better be paying attention.

I just got a new Mizuno (I believe that is how that is spelled). It is totally broken in yet, but it's got some pop to it. I finally just found my "swing" with it this last week and I ended up going 10 for 13 in 4 games. Pretty good, but too much running for me.

On the field I'm somewhat a utility player. My primary postion would be left field though. My favorite position is EH (extra hitter). I get to sit the bench and do nothing but hit. Basically, 10 guys play the field but 12 guys get to hit. I like being one of those two guys who sits the bench, drinks some beer, and hit a softball every once in awhile.

Our team is young, considering the avg age for softball players, but we have skill. A couple of years from now we will be a force to be reckoned with.

    Re: Slowpitch Softball

I definitely have put some time and effort into playing some slowpitch softball. Being a pitcher in high school and college, it was fun to actually get on the field, hit, run and make some plays. I love playing third and short, but dude, that ball comes quick.

I stopped playing softball and started playing an adult baseball league which was way fun too. Then I broke my wrist and I now I am back to golfing and playing some basketball. Good times on the softball thread though, got to love it.

I play the hell outta some slow-pitch, its fun cause i run circles around you old fucks :10 I play anywhere but prefer left or center or left-center. I use a double-wall demarini and a single-wall louisville slugger. I only team I play on right now is my coast guard team but I should be getting in some leagues soon.

    Re: Slowpitch Softball

My old company had a Co-ed team and we played in a city league.

2-piece bats (the ones by like, Miken D. Marini) were legal but they had to meet all the current-year ASA guidelines and be in the OK Bat List.

I played first base because I'm tall and can lay out to dig marginal throws out of the dirt.

I also played some 3rd because I have a strong arm and can get it across the infield quick and I'm not affraid to dive and get dirty.

    Oh, the strawberries.

I was an above average hitter, I would say - the league was mostly a fun-league but there were some companies we played against that we were very competitive with. THe worst was the local MacDonalds franchise owner and his squad of douchebags...

we used to sing "BA-DA-BA BA BA, I'm Lovin It!" when we would hit home-runs off of them.

    Good times.

In our league - as in most others I think - you dont have to run the bases when you hit a home run, but we always did when we played against those MacDonalds jerks...I would gallop to first, spin at 2nd...pump my fist at their dugout at third then moonwalk across home plate. Man I hated those guys...

The list of bats that are illegal is huge. Check this rap sheet.
