Noob help - crap fps
So today was bizarre. I logged on after applying a few parameters to steam launch and the game was amazing. Smooth, nippy, I ended up killing a bunch of gents and had a lovely time. Clint joined me and again I continued to have smooth easy play. Then it suddenly became retardedly laggy . I would end up missing so badly becaus the lag was intolerable. I did notice the server had become allot fuller.
So help me figure out why I can play any other game on superbe graphics but not arma 3...

Keep coming back Max. I have an I7-2600k, but you have the better video card. Not sure how that all plays out, but the game should be pretty smooth the majority of the time.
Have you validated that those start up parameters aren't screwing you?
Also, may want to make some adjustments to your configuration settings. There are some vets around who have a good idea of how to tweak your settings in game. I am not one of them unfortunately.
It was good to play together though. Especially since you didn't murder me in a senseless fashion again.Last edited by Muqtar; 09-08-13 at 06:16 PM.

Lol honestly I am a little confused by wasteland.. It seems very KOS,which is fine, but today I played for an hour and affluent most of it getting popped by a couple of armored vehicles (spawn killers) and a few heavily armed trips who also found it fun to kill new spawns. All the server was feared to the teeth so when I killed one guy there were 4 more armed with tanks and cars. At least it played pretty well... I'll give it a few more tries.

Max,
Just rememberd one thing that seemed to help in the Alpha version is installing new NVidia drivers in a specific way. Download the driver, and when you start the install, choose a clean/complete install as well as a custom (or whatever the non-default is) install. UNCHECK the 3D hardware support intended to run 3D glasses. Believe there are/were two of them. I got a good 4-5 fps bump, but as always, ymmv.Sent from an undisclosed location.

Re: Noob help - crap fps
The answer is simple: the game is badly optimized. It can only fully utilize a single core no matter the settings, which is bottlenecking the GPU. In fact, GPU usage goes down when the the number of players increases, because the single CPU thread can't keep up.
Sometimes I wish this game was open-source, because I'd love to fix the crap out of it.Halifax liked this post
