Looks like you're dealing with the typical vector acclimation period.

I don't mean to call people out on their artwork, but working in vectors for large scale projects is much different than running filters for a web based image in Photoshop. While I have to admit that a lot of these images look good in a web browser, I'm hesitant to put my support behind them when it comes to putting them onto such a big medium as this banner will be. Even these 100% vector images will take on an entirely different form when magnified 100x.

Again, I don't wish to start an argument or a controversy, but this contest might be a little counterproductive, as the artists involved will continue to make fancier and more intricate designs to garner the general public's support, and while the designs might look good in a 800x300 jpeg, the final, physical product might end up far below expectations.

Anyway, just my two cents, take it or leave it.

Mine looks fine full scale.. Not a single rough edge. Ur just.....IDK.......Are you reading anything Spaz has said here?? Seems like you havent.

Also, if you are a REAL graphic designer, you would have multiple copies of said image.......just in case. I have the same version of this image with no effects added to anything...just flat colors.

800x300 jpeg...right cuz thats what bigdog asked for as a final product.....a fuckin' jpeg.

Edit: double post whoopsie sauce!!!! .....there does seem to be SOME quality loss with the effects on the lettering....but not much....but here is a closeup (1200% zoomed) of the flat version. Just click the thumb to enlarge.......see? Even the veins in the back dont blur.

And here is the product mentioned, no shading, effects...nada..probably the most appropriate for large printing:

The effects in illustrator arent vector... they are pixels. Everytime you resize though it will re-sample and give you the best quality possible. Still be weary of too many effects when being printed.

yeah guys. some of yall are simply adding more and more to essentially what needs to be a logo, a URL, and a title.

Less is more, in terms of billboard advertising/banners.

some of these look like the kind of junk you'd hang behind some MMA ladder climber, covered in godaddy and pokertour sponsor logos and junk.

Those involved with the printing are monitoring the threads. We will vote for the winner in the reservist forum (quickly), and then the final winner will be selected based on the designs ability to be printed at high quality, match (color and such) with the example give with the original post (for consistency), and the overall opinion of the resident professionals we have in this field (who are coming out of the woodwork it seems....does everyone have a 60" laser blaster 5 rail Nikonistu ray printer in their garage these days?

I just wanted to say thank you to all that answered my technical questions when it came to understanding aspects of Illustrator. Gonzo, my toughest competition in this challenge, was kind enough to share his knowledge of illustrator with me. I totally regret overlooking the program over the last 10 years or so....Photoshop is now on the back burner and it's all about illustrator from here on out!!!

All vector 30000x10800 pixels 1.267GB uncompressed TIFF file compresses down to 26MB RAR, looks super crispy.

I can propose CafePress merchendise and business card variations in different red/white/black color combinations, if needed.

going nuts doesn't mean putting logo after logo on there. Crazy means making the elements you have look better. Textured. Sharp. Cool.

but having the url, and the site name, and the est. 2005, and the motto/slogan and and and......it's just too busy.
