great job killing a server during priming!
So, I could name names but since what they did is not "technically" against any rules I will refrain. We were on Metro, my side started down by 2 (think we had 5 players other side had 7). We get spawned in late and find other side already has B.. no big deal. Server says its balancing, doesn't seem to be doing anything. We remain down by a couple. We fail to dent B and in the process loose C. I spawn in to find that we have lost all 3 flags, my team is down by several people, we are down on tickets by more than 100 at this point and the game is only 4ish minutes in and I find the other team hunkered down at our spawn killing us as soon as we spawn in. How in the world is the server going to get populated and primed with regulars using counter productive team play and kill people at this spawn? I am not asking for a flag, hell I wasn't even complaining about being down by a couple people, I am happy to fight as the underdog. I do draw the line at not even letting people spawn into the game to form an attack to try and take a flag back. So my entire side left, the server dropped from 14ish people to 2. Great job priming! I would expect this type of lack of team play on a PUB server but on TPG and not from the regulars I have been playing with for years.
just checked and now the server is empty.Last edited by Phyrelight; 12-30-11 at 03:52 PM.

Re: great job killing a server during priming!
I was on the team getting spawn-camped. I did quit before the end of the round, but it was because I was getting tired due to playing for hours straight, more than the base-rape (sure, it didnt help neither).
I may be the only one thinking this way, but I do believe it was fair play. They managed to camp us, we got what we deserved. But it is not up to be to decide if such tactics should be allowed on the server.

Re: great job killing a server during priming!
There's a difference between being camped and camped with 2 extra people both of whom are two of the top players on this server.
There's also a difference between two extra players 20 versus 22 and 5 vs 7.

Re: great job killing a server during priming!
I'm going to hopefully squash this shit right here and now. I was part the "camping" team. By the time we had captured A and were 1/2 way to B the teams had been re balanced. When we captured B we stopped your teams advance on the flag while one person was in the process of capturing C. By time we had killed what was on B we advanced to C. During this whole time the teams we balanced. It wasn't until we settled into C that people started to rage quit and create team imbalance again. At which point the server was in the process of re balancing from what I saw in server chat.
I told my team we should really back off and let them have C. They wanted no part of that, and said "it builds character" and "fuck that let them dig themselves out." In any case metro is a map you can't fuck around on. Make to many mistakes, and your spawn locked. Lets be real here back in 2142 we would punish peoples un-cap flag all time. I mean we got the no armor gentlemen rule do we now need a don't cap us out rule as well? There were 16-18 people on at start of that match at what point do we call the server primed?

Re: great job killing a server during priming!
If you're trying to prime, and you are doing something that is causing people to want to quit, what are you hoping to accomplish? Assuming more people join the map, they will likely end up on the team that is capped out, since that team is the one that people are leaving from, see that they are capped out, and leave.

Re: great job killing a server during priming!
exactly Space.cowboy. I have no problem playing on the down side or fighting for a comeback. I do it all the time. My issue was that with 16ish people on the server that early in the day it was well on its way to filling up and that action killed the server. That is my issue. I have helped prime several times since I got the game and my squad (we are all in a single teamspeak channel per side since there are not enough people on to separate into squad chat yet) always gives thought to the other side when we are playing. If we have all the flags we get a 100 point or so lead and then let off a couple flags and let them take one. Our squad lead has actually said "let them have a flag we have too many people quitting" We pushed our advantage a little bit to get a lead and then set back and let them regroup. It makes for a longer, higher scored and in my opinion more TPGish type game. We are there to have fun and for me I like digging in for the long haul. I have had games making 13k+ experience in a single match during priming because we constantly back cap each other the entire game. We end up with some fantastic skirmishes and that is how I learned the game. Sometimes I am the only person on a point against 2-3 enemy and I have won some and lost some but that is the fun of it. Not having the enemy prone at my feet shooting me as soon as I spawn in. That particular map doesn't have a protected spawn area so we were at the mercy of the players. Combine that with being down a couple and the server trying to balance players into the spawn capped side with outnumbered enemy shooting us every time we spawned and it was max exodus. I bought this game only recently and only to play it on TPG. I originally canceled my preorder because of the VOIP issues. TPG made that issue work by using TS3 so once I had some free time I bought the game. I guess I hold TPG to a different standard than other servers because I have played here for years now. From 2142 to BF2 to project reality to TF2...I could go on. I have played lots of games at TPG but in the end the point I am trying to get to is that we all need to give thought to the server and not "what builds character". If that builds character and my side was down 2 people, 3 flags and over 100 points I didn't see any volunteers from the other side switching to the down side to help out?
I didn't come in here to belly ache. I rarely if ever post complaints. I didn't name anyone specific in this complaint. I left out names specifically because I didn't want to muddle the point with names. I come to TPG to play the games I love and I have waited a long time for a decent one since the demise of 2142. You said yourself we went from 16 players and when I checked after the incident the server was empty. The spawn camping people from the incident that were still online (those on my BF3 portal friends list) had actually left the TPG server and were playing elsewhere. Anyway, as I said there were no violations of any posted rules. Just a lack of common courtesy in my opinion.
