Re: Vanilla or HC, pick a side.
As a regular HC player, there is a serious lack of HC 64p servers that encourage teamplay and coordination. Count me as someone who wasn't a regular TPG player, or even knew about the community, until the server switched to HC. Once the server switched to HC it was the only server I played on, except when it rotated to Wake Island because that map is pretty bad without killcams.
Everyone has their preferences, and I realize that many of the TPG regulars prefer vanilla. I only switched to HC while trying to get unlocks with the sniper rifles. Afterwards, switching back to vanilla felt like I needed to throw an entire clip of bullets at a guy to get the kill. The damage model is what kept me in HC and it does require a different style of play. You can't run directly into the enemy because you don't have the time to get back into cover if they catch you. It rewards you for moving slower and checking angles. It can also encourage camping unfortunately since there isn't a killcam, but you get better at catching them without one.
The other thing is, playing HC rewards teamplay. Without 3d spotting recon motion sensors play a bigger part, medics are a necessity since you can't heal on your own, engineers are a necessity since your tank won't heal on its own.
This is a totally selfish post, I want TPG to switch back to HC because I want a great HC server to play on. Most of the HC servers are stacked all to hell, don't scramble, don't really play as teams and it's frustrating to say the least. Most of my points I'm sure people have made, or argued against, already. At the very least I wanted to put my voice in the pro HC pile.Last edited by akao; 04-06-12 at 08:18 AM.

Welcome to the forums Akao, and stick around, im sure the debate will get hotter as we narrow down our options for server settings. Like you i enjoyed HC a lot more than vanilla, but i play here mostly because of the people rather than game mode, so i have come to enjoy Vanilla just as much, its just.... different. Personally i like HC leaning custom settings, but we need population first and foremost. Custom settings have seemed to keep us off the radar in most cases.

I'd be happy with either HC or Vanilla at this point, with a vote for custom settings and getting a regular player base with those.
It sucks that we have to choose between 2 evils, but such is life. There are great things about each mode, I will miss spotting the most if we switched to HC, but I love how medics are so important in HC; especially since I love medic. Next vote I'll probably refrain from voting and let you guys decide,t hat's how much on the fence/undecided I am."Political Correctness is a cancer to our Society and a Direct Threat to our free speech," The Oozish One

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I recognize some of your names from the server.
