I do already have TS. I've used it for years. For what it does, it works great. I ran a TS server for a group of gamers. That was also no problem, easy-peasy, and bob was my uncle right from the start.

I'm not saying TS isn't a solution. Of course it is a solution. You could argue that it's a sub-optimal solution, or that it's the best solution available.

Someone expressed disappointment at how few people used it, and wondered why that was. A reason was offered: because it's a pain in the ass.

I agree. That's the reason.

In practice, every little bit of extra friction excludes more people.

I was more or less directing that at DG. I rarely see DG in game, and took his answer to be a personal reason for not playing.
I completely understand the Will not's, the Can not's, and the Have not's. I will fully agree it's a pain in the ass.
Too bad it can't be programmed to auto-open TS if installed.

I am amazed.... 9 people in Teamspeak and I'm second in queue. So even if I do get in chances are there'll be no squad voip :/

At this point in the game I think VOIP is a hollow offer, and completely useless as many of the people that own this game no longer play or care at this point. DICE made an excellent game and I love it, but I just can't see myself ever truly getting excited about anything they release now. I'd much rather have Valve engine graphics, destruction and voip, and solid teamplay elements with completely different weapons and discernible classes and command structure. I'll be seriously considering not buying the DLC if my clanmates and friends don't... And BF4 is a stretch to say the least, that game would have to be so much more than the linear run n gun bf3 truly is. At this point, open the source code and let modders fix the game to its potential standards. Pisses me off that consoles have voip from day one, and like to run n gun, and pc users usually prefer tactics and had to suffer no voip from day one. /end rant
