Hackers Point of View from Reddit
I always wondered what a hack looks like and how intuitive it is. Not that I would ever hack but I often wondered if that's part of the draw of hacking. The point is it helps to know your enemy I suppose but other than that i always wondered a lot of things that this guy touches on. But enough of me I will let you read this link for yourselves because I really couldn't believe it.
I'm a hacker, and I have some information for the community. AMA. : battlefield3

Re: Hackers Point of View from Reddit
I still don't get how hacking can be rewarding. What's the point?! "I got a hack so I could go kill a hacker"? That's idiotic if you ask me.
I think i caught a guy with a hack like he is discribing on the peak map a week or so ago. I was on c burn in a train container, with a teammate on my right but out of the container. This guy came out of the nearest corridor and shot my teammate. Thinking I had a sure kill and that he would have his back to me, I ran out of the container only to be pre fired and killed by him. There was just no way I was spotted and no way he would have known I was there to pre fire me. He was something like 36-3 score. I called him out on wall hacking and sure enough he left as soon as the round ended.
Dice should develop a tool like this hack that could detect it. I can't accept that there is no way to have a admin or server operator be given this kind of power or ability for the purpose of detecting and banning hackers.

But you can't hack in BF3 because EA doesn't release the game files.

As an admin in other games, my reputation wouldn't be worth it.
Looking from the outside in, how would you feel knowing that admins of a server are, for a fact, using hacks even if they claim it is for the good of the server? Way too much power allowed to individuals in a server, and way too slippery of a slope for me.

Re: Hackers Point of View from Reddit
Absolutely not, SlytherN. Sure we would use it for good, but if word got out that our admins were using hacks of any kind, for any reason, no one would come to our servers. People always look at the negative in things. Just look at what happened to the guy who wrote this article. He was getting threats so bad that he refused to have any more to do with the article he made.

Re: Hackers Point of View from Reddit
It's been brought up before, but no.
1. Having an admin(s) banned for hacking doesn't build any trust, and generally isn't good for business.
2. We have really good admins. Hackers may come on our server, but they don't last very long. BF3 is MUCH tougher to admin (thanks to not having the ability to easily spec a player), so it may take a little longer to confirm (we want to be absolutely sure that the person is hacking, and not just a Gato/Brass level player). We don't just ban on the player's score....we do due diligence to be able to stand behind the bans we make, so as not to falsely accuse anyone. I know our admins are constantly watching, and do a pretty damn good job.
3. We have solid regs who also act as watchdogs. Not much gets by you guys without some commentary. You all know that if you ask for an admin in-game, you will get a response. Teamwork and communication, and we all police our little sandbox together.
4. Buying a hack(s) for an admin would require giving money to a company that makes hacks, and ruins games. Fuck that shit.deathgodusmc liked this post
