    Last night the server was on vanilla settings, was this intentional?

    There was a server update two nights ago, so this could have been the issue.

    So every update resets the server I guess.

    Interesting thing was that the server was full of people I didn't recognize. Perhaps vanilla has a stronger pull.

    Nope. All hardcore rules are in place in both the server config and Procon.

    I honestly wouldn't mind going back to vanilla or custom now on the main server. I mean I love hardcore but I am a little sick of one hit snipers (even though i take advantage of it myself) and instadeaths.
