No, but I would recommend getting Back to Karkand at very least. If the premium price is good, then you might as well run with it. If TPG is dead and you want to try out some other modes, like Close Quarters, then you would be able to jump right on as it is part of the Premium pack.

That is a pretty good price considering that most of us paid $40-50 for the game, then another $50+ to upgrade to premium.

Regular gets you the base maps. To play the DLC you will either have to buy each separately or buy Premium in addition to bf3. So really it's going to be about $40 for everything (that's a deal considering most people paid $120 for everything). Buying Premium alone does not get you the base game. To play on TPG all you need is the base BF3. Due to DICE's wisdom the quick match system doesn't work if your server is running the DLC. That means if we were to run any of the DLC maps our random connect numbers drop like a rock.

She's not worn out if she still has the energy to suck some balls. Get her out working again before Wayne Brady has to choke a bitch.
