New to BF3. Wanted to introduce myself.
Hi everybody!
I'm currently installing BF3 since I just bought it through the Origin Humble Bundle. I just wanted to introduce myself and let people know that I'm new to the game, and to also beg your patience with me as I learn the ropes. I first got into TPG from the old BF2142 server, so hopefully I still have some of my BF skills. I have no doubt that I'll run into some of my old 2142 friends, though how many will remember me I've no idea since I haven't been playing much of anything for a few years.
Also, a question: is premium (or any of the DLC's) worth getting? As I understand it, I only have the basic version of the game and would hate to miss out on content that everybody else has.
Anyways, I look forward to being knifed in the face by all of you!

The DLC is worth it if you love a lot of maps. CQ(Close Quarters) is FUN when you are playing conquest domination. (I hope I got that mode right) Of course you get a lot of maps and also a larger variety of servers to choose. So it is worth it if you want to venture out and not get old of the same maps. However, if you want to save $22.00 than I say don't get premium. BF4 is coming out soon. :P

I remember you Iron Man. Don't be expecting BF3 to be anything at all like 2142, but if you hop in teamspeak with us it can still be fun experience. As far as the DLC goes there are some great maps in them and it's nice to have some some variety but we don't host any of them so if you plan on sticking to our server you won't need them. Try not to get too discouraged when you start out, it can be a pretty steep learning curve at first.

Save your money on premium. TPG servers only occasionally play the DLCs

TPG only runs the core game. What you have.
If you want to dare step into a non TPG server you might want to try the premo.
In addition to maps you will also receive new guns your can unlock. However, you can do rather well with the core guns.

Some really good guns are acquirable right off the bat by playing co-op. The SG553, the venerable MP7, the G3A3, the REX, and the 93R. All pretty good weapons along with the stock ones. I'll play co-op with you any time.
