Commander limits
Hopefully we can get some good conversation out of this one
As we all know communication is the hands down largest key to victory. Yet, Commanders can only talk to 1 squad at a time. Quite interesting on what they decided to do. I think they were trying to make commander less annoying so squad leaders don't hear information they don't need to like another squad's orders, but I don't think they realize that it is much too limited and actually works negatively toward some of the other abilities that they give the commander.
First of all, the entire point of the commander is to make the other squads aware of everyone else. When I give my overall strategy and telling one squad at a time to do what I ask they have no idea what anyone else is doing so they can assume they can just go on to w/e they want.
Secondly the vehicle and infantry scan are ONLY effective if I can talk to everyone at the same time. "X infantry at A, 3 tanks southwest B, whole squad in between charlie and delta" What am I going to do with knowing where the people are if I can barely deploy a UAV. Assuming I could click each squad one at a time where they are relevant is a slow method that cannot keep up realistically with the pace of the scan (Not to mention one point I need to tell 2 squads... what am I going to repeat the same shit to two different people)
Personally I like to keep my squads aware of what is going on, who is doing what, who's getting a UAV. Asking the squads of which of them would like my assets when they are available. The UAV isn't for me, it is to aide the ground forces so they need to be where people need them.
As it is commander mode is a limited version of what it was(considering BF2 and 2142 could talk to individual and team channels). Don't get me wrong I'm still very happy that it is actually here but I do believe people shouldn't get the wrong misconception of what "more strategy" is. A commander should be able to deal with 3 different squad's problems as fast as possible without sluggish delay like repeating concepts, and pointless isolation. It makes it so you are wasting so much time telling squads that they should be attacking the point you originally told them to deal with and struggling to do anything offensive or supportive.
Commanders and squad leaders should both have simple direct communication to each other without poking and prodding like asking/waiting for the commander to click on your squad so you can tell him what is wrong with his strategy, why you are moving on to another point, and general information that could help the team as a whole.
(also if anyone thinks tomahawks are good try landing a supply crate on top of a sniper in 2142, it isn't as easy as you think)
all points aside I'm happy to see commander back and encourage people to do their best at it, but these are my opinions on the new commander.

Re: Commander limits
Yeah, I feel like we've gone backwards to some degree and only are now slowly creeping back. I think 2142 nailed it with commander/squad VOIP. I don't understand why they didn't duplicate it in BF3/4...
