Thread: Favorite Shotgun

I like what ever the first on is, but I only have that and the 870 unlocked...

Shotguns are for noobs. Get your kills with skill people.

Ignoring Source, it takes a completely different mindset to use Shotguns effectively. Even with a full choke 870 with Flechettes, you are not going to match a carbine at their effective range, but you can get a kill or two at those same ranges if you play it right.

More importantly, you really learn how to move on the battlefield when you're using a shotgun. Open areas are your biggest challenge in closing the gap, and you usually won't make it if you rush. Sometimes though, enemies are too worried about shooting someone else to notice you rushing the field to get closer. Ultimately it comes down to really understanding terrain and how to use it and cover effectively to close the gap into shotgun range. It's a high risk, high reward weapon type, which is why I have a lot of fun with them.

I am being serious man. I mean how much skill does it take to point a circle at somebodies center mass and click. You can rationalize it all you want with it takes a whole new approach to the game to be affective with it but I don't buy it. It's cheap it has always been cheap since the dawn of the FPS and it will probably continue to remain cheap for the foreseeable future in my opinion.

I'm glad the worlds military's don't think that way or maybe they do it's cheap,effective weapon for urban areas. Source if you're all about the skill aspect just use nothing but a pistol and heaven forbid no hand grenades.

In 203 milliseconds I can kill you with an AEK. With a shotgun having to put two bucks into you I bet takes more than that. Even if it takes 1 shot I bet it's somewhere in the range of 203 milliseconds (pump action). So if I have to hold down my left trigger I'm 1337 but if I click it I'm a scrub noob thanks for the clarification you dumb noob.

Just using that as an example of cheap no skill weapon and been killed a number of times by a pistol lately it's been that fuckin Rex.

That's assuming you hit with the first and subsequent AEK shots. The shotgun has such a wide spread that hitting is much easier. And once you've been hit by a shotgun blast , your vision and aim just goes to shit. It seems to be much more so than other weapons.

That's assuming I can get that close to you with my shotgun. Also suppression has no effect in close range. My point is if you're that close with any weapon they all kill fast. If your missing at that range well you deserve to die no matter the weapon. Most the time I have to land 2 shotgun shells to kill occasionally I get my 1 shot kills. Thus my time to kill is actually slower.
