Gentleman's rule ends. Today.
All of this no vehicles until I say when bullshit ends now. There never has, and never will be a rule telling people to not be in certain vehicles before a decent number of people joins the server. This bullshit started in BF3 and will end with it. Vehicles are not OP, they are actually much easier to deal with. Instead of complaining about what is happening figure out the problem and deal with it.
If you are one of these people antagonizing others while priming because you want to do your infantry only bullshit, then why are you here? The teamplayers I know deal with problems without complaining. The teamplayers I know hear an order, drop what they are doing and go do it. When I say "APC Delta side." I hear them say "Rodger that, spawning on you engi", or better yet recon, or hell even support to give me ammo to what the engi is doing. It doesn't matter how many people there are it is easy to deal with. As an assault, you can think ahead of the vehicles. Be smart people, not complainers.
If you are one of these people who would rather antagonize a person for playing with what the game got them than deal with the issue in front of you then stay out of my squads, thank you.deputyfestus liked this post

Actually, I remember it in bf2142 as well. Lol. But it doesn't matter...no one would truly live up to it. When priming you could just be capturing objectives with your own vehicles and moving to the next. Much more points for that then dealing with a single tank at a single objective.

Re: Gentleman's rule ends. Today.
We did it in BF2 also. It's about priming the server and not raping x people with vehicles. I like infantry so this particular etiquette didn't/doesn't bother me either way. Vehicle whores do bother me.

You might want to check yourself there Frag. Last I checked, you're not the law here. It's been proven, that people whoring vehicles in low populations drive off primers and kill the server. The "Gentleman's Rule" has been a LOT longer than BF3... it was used in BF2 and to some extent in 2142. You apparently have a very convenient memory loss. "Hey guys, let's meet at C flag. Knife/Pistol only."
If everyone agrees to stay out of vehicles, then there is no harm to it. While you're spouting about REAL team play. A REAL teamplayer would not be a dick and sit there with a vehicle and farm kills for their own benefit. A REAL teamplayer would think about the better good of the server rather than their own selfish interest.
If all you're doing is trying to practice with a vehicle... BF4 offers a lovely feature called the Test Range.

BF2.
No there isn't an enforceable rule, but it is still common courtesy. It helps more than it harms. The smurfs that are helping to prime the server don't care about sacrificing fun in the name of overcoming adversity and will dump your ass in an empty server in a heartbeat. Explain that to the reg who just spent two hours trying to prime to have your leet armor skills ruin his effort.

Re: Gentleman's rule ends. Today.
No, and I don't proclaim to be. Neither was the topic of this discussion. I have nothing wrong with choosing to play without vehicles, but if you draw the line and start antagonizing another person because they are in a vehicle than what you are doing is putting the seed into the person's head that vehicles are bad and you can't use them while priming. By making that statement you have influenced people to leave the server because of an irrelevant thing like vehicles in a server. Yes I remember doing knife only things back in 2142(because that was fun to do back then) if someone got a vehicle all I had to do was get a gunship. It isn't about what people say or anything like that. This is when things are not stated at all, yet antagonized.
Stating that this is MY selfish interest, I honestly cannot figure out how you see that is my selfishness. I am usually the one on ATVs and as an infantryman dealing with the people who decide of their own free will to take a vehicle and I deal with it(and just because I say that does not mean in the slightest that I don't sometimes get in a jet/chopper and work on people that way, as was done in 2142). The last 2 times I had to comment on it was with 0 context, teamplayers antagonizing others for being in a vehicle while they themselves owned a larger portion of the flag control. If that isn't selfish I don't know what is.
This community is about finding people that figure out what to do without making up arbitrary rules like "No jihad jeeping" or "no ramming" we figure out how to deal with these issues in the best way possible, and without complaining about it making the other person in the server hate being in our server.
Also, test range is shit for anything other than shooting targets.

Re: Gentleman's rule ends. Today.
Just like any other game we have, a gentleman's rule is a suggestion. Certainly you remember l4d2, Frag? Everyone ready's up... someone says hold you hold... Those are gentleman's rules too. Nobody HAD to follow them. And if you didn't we certainly called you a dick for not doing so.
There's no rule saying you can't use vehicles in BF4 while priming. And there's no rule that someone can't call you a dick if you do. Very simple equation there.moving-target, Voodoo_S3 liked this post

Sorry Frag, but go back and read your post. It reeks of 'authoritarian' voice. You may want to tone it down a little bit if you want anyone to take you seriously. As Kanati pointed out, there is no 'rule' prohibiting it. There's also no rule for people calling a spade a spade. Anyone hopping in armor to go up against a bunch of infantry during priming is a dick. It empties the server and is counterproductive to everything 'teamplayer' we promote here.
