    LoL why would HC (least popular mode) fair any better? Especially when most people are going bed regardless of what mode a server is running. I don't see the rationale here.

    People go to sleep it is natural. It will only stay awake if we get more regulars who stay awake longer

    Because for those of us who are on that late it seems the only servers that are active and often full are HC/16-32/smaller maps and typically infantry only.

    I don't understand the psychology it but that's the reality.

    There are at least 5 or 6 TPGers (I'm assuming there are more off and on) on between 1-5am including myself and as I said before the server dies and stays dead no matter how long we stay on there.

    We end up having to go pubing because we can only chase each other around in a huge 64man map for so long before it gets boring.

    I have a theory now.

    I think people perceive how full a server is by the percentage full not by the sum of people in the server.

    So people are more likely to join a server with 10 people in it when it's 30% full (32man) compared to %15 full (64man).

    Most servers running HC are 32man or smaller so even with a small group of players they seem to be more full than a 64man even if the 64man has 1.5 times the amount of players. The HC servers also run smaller maps which are typically infantry only making the game play faster and harder than what you would get on a large vehicle map with the same amount of players.

    As for the HC setting itself, it paces the gameplay much faster than it would be with HC off.

    So basically, due to the smaller target audience the environment needs to be adjusted in order to replicate that "Only in BF" feeling that you would normally get in a 64man vanilla at 8pm.

    Empty at 1 ... this is a sad thing ... I recall many good rumbles in BF2 that lasted until 2-3 AM ... well, that is what my feeble mind remembers.

    ... odd thought ... reminds me of an old Calvin and Hobbes:

    I would have still been on but after my 3rd kick for some illegal driver thing i called it a night. Probably just need to reboot but fuck it.

    Good point. Im usually around late. like now. We were just playing 3v3 for the last hour or so. The past few nights me and grey were on another server. HC 32 man....packed. A few of TPG regs were also on.

    We'll look into it but I don't think there's a way to switch between the modes (and change the server name) without actually going in and doing so by hand.

    Last night Zoran, Merritt and I were able to keep one of the TPG servers active until just before 0400.

    The total active players ranged between 8-4 players from 0130-0400.

    From my observation HC isn't necessary but the smaller map size is necessary. Less than 8 players meant it was difficult to keep the game play going, just a lot of running around. Less than 6 players meant we stuck to one or two flags because if not we would never see the opposing team.
