I am hoping the game/team changes they are making for the patch......and reading it looks like they except the game went a little too far away from this aspect, that more functionality to the commander and squad = the return of bases and their assets. I hope this is so as raping and pillaging beats the crap out of the roof top jumping I see on some maps. In fact I dislike that part so much I come off and make a cup of tea.

I noted as well they are changing the reticle moving around and having less hits instead ( I hope I read that right). Playing with Dex the other night three of us was taken out by a guy with one clip.

Some of the guns are too high powered or accurate in my opinion.

I like the map with the islands...has a wake island feel about it.

Oh and i nearly forgot....And I do not like the sound of the next add on....cops and robbers?....trying to be GTA and COD all at the same time... what next Candy crush saga island?

The cops and robbers thing is a different game entirely. Just happens to have Battlefield affixed to it for some odd reason.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

Re: BF 4 BF 2 and the land of Candy crush Saga

BF4 is made to attract more players, BF2 was a niche, this is a large scale thing. The pet peeve of mine is weapons & Lag. Theres way too many weapons, I miss having 5-7 choices of weapons - you couldn't use DMRs unless you were sniper. You couldn't be a killing machine as an AT guy in BF2 because your weapons were very close range (because you had the AT rocket).

Plus Armour was actually valuable in BF2, in this game (as I've said before) there's way too much armour.

The lag is a pain in the ass (Especially since I played a ton of source engine games). Source games lag was there, but it was always bang on when the bullet was fired. No ridiculous bullet spread, muzzle shake or suppression. I know its to make it more realistic, but I find Arma guns are pretty bang on, they feel real. In BF4 everything feels soft, and I'm definitely not as confident I'll make a kill compared to BF3 or BC2 even. You'll see in my videos (I'll upload some soon) that bullet-kill ratio varies dramatically for me. It takes 6-7 assault shots to kill because the hitboxes aren't really where they should be and bullets seem to disappear? Allane will argue it only takes 3-4 chest shots - but both Geek and I have wireless internet so we get penalised right off the bat for our connection.

Regardless I still have a blast in this game because of the TTP crew here, we make the game enjoyable, and not the other way around

If bf2 was niche it would have had less players and been less popular for a shorter time then the bf series that followed but that isn't how it played out. Also you obviously never learned how to snipe with an AT round.

Really the failure of those that followed is simple to figure out. BF2 was the ultimate game because it was more like combat. Sometimes one shot is a kill shot and sometimes it take 3 or 4 but it never really takes 7 hits to put someone down. There is no time out zone in combat which is why base raping was so effective at disrupting enemy movements. Really all they had to do was update weapons vehicles, put the better graphics in, and give new maps. If they had done that with the releases after bf2 they would have been successes but they didn't so the only success was to their bank account.

And another thing that irritates me is never running out of sprint. Anyone thats carried that shit knows your not running for long with all that shit. Yeah it was a pain in the ass in bf2 but it was more realistic. Why bother having a sprint if it never runs out?

And for my 3rd edit i'll say bf4 wasn't made to attract more players. It was made to attract more people to buy it. When they made bf2 it was about getting people to play but they abandoned that idea after how successful it was. There's no money in people playing the same game for 7 years.

Battlefield 2 sold 2 million copies by 2006, that's not a big game following. Bf2 was a niche, niche players are more loyal to games (L4D series was a niche and saw players logging hundreds to thousands of hours). Niche games are awesome because they don't compromise to fit the public, they say we are a combat arcade shooter and they perform amazingly (arma3). Battlefield 4 has sold over 7million copies and an additional 1.6million on premium. They made this game for the masses (who have a brutally short attention span - candy crush saga). The retention of bf4 Vs Arma 3 is probably stark.

I honestly don't care what the game is like. Whether it's ultra realistic like ARMA or arcady like Call of Duty 4, the primary thing that I always cared about was the teamwork and the camaraderie. Even shit games can be made fun if played with friends, and I think BF4 isn't quite a shit game yet (It's getting there though. DICE has no idea what they're doing with weapon balance).

If it weren't for TPG, I would have given up gaming about 5 years ago. It's not the games that keep me coming back, it's the people that I get to play them with, and the environment in which to do so.

You left out that only 2% of the people that bought bf4 are actually playing it. Like i said it was made for sales not players. Mission accomplished.

Every game is like every movie. They are all niche. Not everyone enjoys the same stuff. So trying to say bf2 is niche and bf4 isn't is just obsurd. BF2 was more popular overall to those that boiught it then bf4 is or ever will be.

I agree to a point. I even put in some hours on bf4 until i had to pay for the addition just to play on tpg's server. While playing with people i know are teamplayers it was mildly enjoyable but most times i did what i did in bf2 and tried to get others playing together and it made the true game play of it show through. Jet's and helos launched with no weapons? Thats just stupid. People just played smarter on bf2 then they do bf4. They used strategy to get to flags instead of everyone just running into a meat grinder. But it is a pretty game just no where near realistic and that matters to me.

BF2 was out when there was a limited selection of 3d shooter style games. There was either your unreal tournaments/quake/mechwarrior or there was BF2. There really wasn't many options for those who wanted a teamplay experience. Now we have people with hundreds of games in their steam library. We have a much larger gamer population which leads to more different style games. This is what killed the BF2 franchise.

For your sprint comment. It's funny how you mention bf2 and their rocket sniping. You really think you're going to run around and quick switch from a pdw to a sraw in a matter of 1 second. Talk about realistic. Let us not forget the dolphin diving, or the unlimited amount of grenades from an ammo bag, the cartillery, or the spawning out of pockets. Of all these you choose to mention sprint? Lol

I totally agree with your 3rd edit. I believe that they had to create a game that would attract more players. If they didn't create something for the masses they would have fallen. We are the minority unfortunately.
