Re: BF1
EA/Dice are STILL keeping mum on it. I'm guessing that they don't want to hinder their pre-order sales. Their refusal to announce ANYTHING at this point is all the confirmation anyone needs. For EVERY other BF release since BF2, our server providers were able to set us up so that we could be live on day 1. This time around, we can't even get answers from our providers as to wether they will be able to rent us an instance at all because EA/Dice haven't announced anything to them, either (or so they are saying). There is waaaaay too much smoke for there not to be a fire. If it weren't true, we would likely see representatives from EA/Dice doing some damage control, or at least some clarification. Instead, there is a 93+ page thread of irate folks wondering the same thing on EA's own website/forums. No answer is all the answer we need.

Re: BF1
There's still a sliver of hope. Looking beyond EA's overall track record, don't forget what they've allowed to be done with BF4's CTE. They've fucked up royally by launching the game is a pathetic state, but they managed to salvage it (after two years). They made 60hz tickrate servers a reality. They spent a shitton of resources to patch up the mess. What I'm saying is that, assuming the decision of forgoing rentable servers creates a big enough backlash (which I don't see why it wouldn't), there is the possibility that DICE/EA may backtrack to try to save their asses. There is a precedent for it.
