All You Need To Know About The Battlefield 1 Rent-A-Server Program
Learn how to Set Up your Own Battlefield 1 Servers

Following the Battlefield™ 1 launch, we will start rolling out a Rent-a-Server Program that will allow players to set up their own private and public Battlefield 1 servers, with control of different gameplay options to map rotations. Thanks to these customization options, you’ll be able to create games that suit the play style for you and your friends.
Starting close after launch, you will be able to rent a server through the in-game store of Battlefield 1. In the past, servers were handled by third-party companies – now, EA is providing them directly. We think this will benefit you in several ways. First off, we will be able to secure the quality of the actual hardware. Since the servers come from the same provider, it will give everyone the same uniform experience. Furthermore, if you have questions or need help, you will be able to reach out to EA Support directly instead of third party support.
On a rented server, players will be able to customize gameplay aspects like server name, map rotation, game mode, various game play settings, and more. We might restrict number of game modes available at launch and gradually enable them based on feedback and other circumstances, but you can expect that we’ll keep adding customization options and UI design throughout 2016.
Expect to hear more about it as we approach the release of the Rent-a-Server program. We can’t wait to see you on the battlefield!

Re: BF1
They already had control over the hardware. They specified what BF4 needed to run on, and only licensed the providers that had the equipment. The truth is that EA will be leasing the very same servers from the same providers (in many cases)(from BF4), but instead of allowing the providers to compete for our business, EA will be the sole "provider". Just the same way CoD did it.
And still no word about custom messages to get folks into the forums, kicking, or banning, or even when this will be available.
And LOL...."All we need to know". Such bullshit.

Re: BF1
Last week, EA revealed it is handling Battlefield 1's server rental process exclusively without help from third-party companies. "Since the servers come from the same provider, it will give everyone the same uniform experience," said EA, and while this doesn't really affect users logistically, the publisher failed to mention how much server rentals will cost.
In a blog post featured on the game's forums, EA and DICE have now revealed the game's server rental prices for both PC and PS4 and Xbox One consoles—with PC players expected to stump up more when the programme rolls out at some point next month.
The prices and rental time periods are as follows:
PC
1 day: $2.99
7 days: $11.99
30 days: $42.99
90 days: $99.99
180 days: $149.99
PlayStation 4/Xbox One
1 day: $1.99
7 days: $7.99
30 days: $26.99
90 days: $64.99
180 days: $99.99
Concerningly, it doesn't appear that you'll be able to kick or ban players from servers you own, at least at launch. As the EA blog reads: "One of the top requested features if [sic] the Kick/Ban feature. We hear you and are working on rolling that out after the launch of the [Rental Server Program]."
As it stands, it's not clear what features players can expect, nor is pricing besides USD. We've reached out to EA for comment and will update as and when we hear back.

Re: BF1
It's a joke... It really is... Every Year it gets worse and there is no end in sight. Although it would make me happy to see their new program fail, It won't. This game is going to sell many copies and with it, many instances of their "rental server program".
Dex is right to be negative about it. I can't believe that there are people on this forum that are actually somewhat optimistic.
