Re: Going on the Defensive
I LIKE TO PLAY DEFENSE
Personally I prefer defense many times. I like defending the MEC Airfields on Kubra or Op. Clean Sweep, or the TV Station on Sharqi Peninsula, or even the factory on Karkand. I have absolutely no problem with that and I many times look for defending squads to join. Even if it seems boring to most players (not to me) and even if my score show 5 points at the end of a round I don't give a s***. As a squad defending vitals points in the game you are in my opinion the most important part and make life much easier for your Commander and the entire team, cause if I play my defense well, they can concentrate solely on their attack and/or interception of the enemy, knowing they have me and a few fellas covering their backs. Isn't that a good fealing for both, attack teams and defense teams?
My personal favourite defense is the TV station on Sharqi Peninsula in a squad with MaBell37 and a good working squad. You just feel great and satisfied if your team holds off any enemy advance on this vital point. :9

since i don't usually lead i don't get to play defense a whole lot. but yeah one of the reasons i stay mostly on PR is the fact people will defend flags. Get so tired of being the only guy at a flag because everyone else is attacking. Thenn we lose the flag and all the jet whores get pissed etc. Because no-one knows what defense is. Regulars are fine, it more when you get on with few if any regulars on that it is a problem.

The game's about defense. If no one has figured that out yet...well...
You don't rack up points AND win by just capping a flag and then heading out. Most of your teamplay-related points (which are the easiest to get vs straight kills in my opinion) are always gotten fighting over something that matters...flags.
If every complete squad would assault a flag, then stay at that flag and defend it, that team would ALWAYS win EVERY round, on EVERY map. Period. When you have people who don't understand the game, and only get on the server to rack up points and don't use their brains to figure out that points come easier when you do stuff OTHER than go for straight kills, then your team will almost never win...unless there's the same amount of dummies on the other side as well.
So, in summary, I agree with you 100%. Offense is for initially capping the flag. Once you have it, it's about staying there and defending it. Those who don't, don't know how to play the game.

Re: Going on the Defensive
MaBell. Last night on Gulf of Oman, i was squadded with our fellow TTP benefactor, NHBird, and at one point he had us make our way from Village Fort, to village, to construction and then to...................you guessed it, HOTEL. As it turned out, you and a rather adept squad were defending the hotel and i just had to post here, that you guys did a stellar job. Although i stole the tank no less than 3 times AND Bird managed to get and APC on the hill behind you, you guys held that ground tighter than a death grip. I was impressed. You stopped every push we made, you guys were accurate and unyielding. It was very frustrating on our side, but it was some fun. Just thought you guys should know.
Two nights ago, i had the pleasure of squadding with you on Dalian Oil, where we defended the north docks. We dished out quite a helping of pain to anyone who tried to break our defense, attack choppers included. As far as defending goes, its too often overlooked. When you get two good defensive squads and a good commander that can assist you in moving up without leaving the back door open, the game is going to be a good one. (think Karkand when MEC holds the factory with one good squad and a couple of other guys, 8 to 10 total at most)

Re: Going on the Defensive
Thanks, Scott and Bulldog! It's nice to know that someone is noticing the little things I manage to do right around here, lol.
As for the Hotel last night... Let me just say... HA, HA HA HA, HA!!!!!! It was most CERTAINLY a blast having a determined, competent squad try numerous tactics to dislodge us. Last night every map we played, my squad, not me, my SQUAD, defended one flag almost ALL round, EVERY round. For almost every map we played THEY held the flag the longest, BY FAR, than ANY OTHER FLAG ON THE MAP!!!
A lot of people say it's me, but in honest reality, without the guys(and gals from time to time) who join me, NONE of that would be possible. I just kinda give them a little helping hand, THEY do all the work and make me look good, lol.
There are so many players that come in my squad and do such a bang up job that I couldn't even think of all the names offhand. One of these days, I'm gonna find a way to keep track of all these good players and post kudos to them in here so EVERYONE knows the best people to invite into their squad!
