Well I think I don't need the Basic Aviator Badge for the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. I guess you saw that sentence on BF2stats.

Tom, I'm pretty sure I know what happened, but you have to think CAREFULLY before answering this question... Did you receive ALL the basic combat badges BEFORE you attained the points necessary for promotion? If the answer is no, then that is why you got Master Sergeant instead of First Sergeant. As far as I know, this is THE reason why people don't make the First Sergeant and Sergeant Major ranks, you HAVE to earn ALL the other pre-requisites BEFORE you get the points necessary for promotion, there is NO OTHER WAY.

    Re: Promotion

If you do not have all the badges to rank up before your point totals you will not rank up after getting your badges after you have made points.

This is from the BF2S website:

    Requirements:

    For First Sergeant
    Rank: Gunnery Sergeant
    Score: 20,000
Awards: Basic Knife Combat Badge, Basic Pistol Combat Badge, Basic Assault Combat Badge, Basic Anti-tank Combat Badge, Basic Sniper Combat Badge, Basic Spec Ops Combat Badge, Basic Support Combat Badge, Basic Engineer Combat Badge, Basic Medic Combat Badge

    http://ubar.bf2s.com/ranks.php

The best bet is to have all your badges prior to getting the points needed to rank up.

heres a question because i read this and was kinda confused from seeing the stat pages

lets say you rank up to gunnery Sergeant without all the basics, can you move on to master gunnery or are you stuck at Gunnery Sergeant?

Yes that definitely happened. As I said I had about 28'000 points as I earned my two last badges. So this will be it. But is that a bug or a feature? If it's a feature the only thing I have to say is "FY EA" for not letting me know.

You would move to master sergeant, but not first sergeant. The key is getting the badges before you get the points to rank up. You could conceivably be stuck at master sergeant, with lets say points to move up to a lieutenant, but stay at master sergeant because you do not have the badges and it goes on and on and on...
