Just a few key lines to really take note of in that news release.

What does this mean for the future of EA? I don't know, my crystal ball has been broken for many years. Fix what they have and hold on to wht they got? Maybe. Comeup with another blockbuster of somesorts? Maybe.

But hey, just keep informed.

I havent checked EA's stock in a while but back when I worked there you never wanted to hold onto it. It was so volatile that you could make some decent coin day trading it making money longing and shorting it.

Also EA is continually cranking out some at least decent titles. EA has the bankroll to make a bunch of games, even shitty ones and still come out ahead. Unfortunately they dont really take a lot of chances on truly innovative games.

EA has some great stuff in the pipe, Warhammer Online should be awesome and Rock Band will tide them over through the holidays.

Re: EA Pain

I looked at this stock last winter and decided that it was too volitile for investing but if your looking for a prediction, I am thinking this:

For a gaming company they are still best of breed.
Too big to be an acquistion or go out of business.

My money is it will stay the same or merge with another company.

Someone will always be there to satisfy our gaming urge, it just might cost us a ton.

Re: EA Pain

The interesting line to me was.....

But the company added that a change in accounting for certain online-enabled game titles resulted in $36 million in deferred revenue that will be recognized in future periods.

Of course, when I can't sleep in the middle of the night and no one else is on the server, my mind starts wandering. Do gamers influence stock prices at all? It seems like there are issues that keep coming up, i.e. the unable to connect to a server on the 1st attempt. Does our dissatisfaction affect their stocks at all?

I would presume that most of the stockholders of EA probably aren't gamers or haven't touched any complex games in a long time.

It would if it happens early in a game's life, so people turn others off of the game.

EA will do what it always has done when its stocks start to drop: Eat some smaller company that makes good games, fire the devs that make said games, and use their own devs to make mediocre sequals.

And the circle of life continues.

This is a big yes. Those who are very successful traders pay attention to products and how the general public reacts to them. I have bought stock in companies based on the fundementals but also because I have had a good personal experience with them.

I have had a positive experience with EA but don't feel that they have the fundementals of a good stock. Traders may not be gamers but they have friends and family that are and they get their info from them. The traders that don't do extensive homework usually aren't in the game for long.
