Flag defense
Name the maps and the flags on that map which are the most important to defend and give your reasons why. This will be a valuable tool for squad leaders and commanders.
Some questions to consider:
How long should you defend after capturing?
Are they near a choke point on the map?
Which flags are the ones that should least be defended?
IE: Defense of TV on Sharqi is a given.
Post up.

Re: Flag defense
I personally do not think anyone is going to respond with good answers if they are smart. It would give away there tactics and allow everyone to know what they are thinking when they are commanding or leading a squad. It was a good idea to try to help out commanders and squad leaders who do not know but then it would give away tactics.

Re: Flag defense
Well there is always a counter to every situation. Part of TTP is to make better teamplayers out of us all and if people are not willing to share their knowledge then that would be very "teamplayer" would it? Part of the concept of this community is to educate. You learn "secrets" every night you play because, while you may be under a great squad leader one night, you will be up against that same squad leader another night. The same thing goes for a commander.

Re: Flag defense
Thats very true and i must agree with you fully on the fact that it does spread the teamplayer atmosphere and allow those people who dont know that much about the game to learn. Heck I wouldn't mind learning a thing or two from these top players on the TTP servers.

Re: Flag defense
I'll ignore the ones that I think are blatantly obvious.
That being said, the only one I can think of is Woodyard on Dragon Valley. It's an attack chopper spawn and an excellent stepping off place to go about anywhere else on the map.
As to how long you should defend after capturing, I suppose it should be for the rest of the game unless you get orders otherwise. Odds are, the rest of your team is going to go running off somewhere else to cap flags.
Oh, and tex, I'm not holding a damn thing back in that post. You can go read all of my top-secret commanding tactics here...

Re: Flag defense
The problem I see sometimes is commanders or squad leaders think its do or die when it comes to flags like the Intake or TV station. I beg to differ.
These flags only make life easier and do not deplete tickets any faster. In fact more often, the attacking side looses many tickets on repeated attacks against a well defended flag. I have found in many cases it is just as good to take all the other flags and leave the defenders there. Defenders defending a flag that is not being attacked are effectively out of the game.
Now on the other hand some maps have what I call "high point flags". I will use Airfield at Wake as a example. Howmany times have you seen the Chinese win just by holding that one flag. However if the Americans take it, it does not deplete tickets any faster then the other 4 flags. Also the 1:1 ratio does not seem to apply to that flag, as I have seen 2-3 Amercains capture that flag with 4-6 defenders within the flag radius.

Re: Flag defense
i agree with ya about airfield on wake jeep. i've won many a round just holding that flag only. especiallly if you are the americans. you have the all the air power. this has been discussed many times here, but air power can really make or break a map. it's nice to hold tv on sharqi cause you either gain or lose a chopper. daqing: east oil. 2 choppers vs. 1. dalian: main entrance and reactor.
those can win a round, but there is no substitute for capping flags. control the flags and you control the game. that's where groundpounding comes in. if you new folks want to find a great groundpounding squad leader try jeep1's squads. i also suggest =PHX=MaBell. *cough* shameless plug *cough*

Re: Flag defense
I agree with Mouf on the Daqing: East Oil. You pretty much have to stay and defend it through the entire game because there's almost always a squad there trying to get their hands on the extra chopper.
In Oman, the hotel is one of the more important flags. It's got a tank and apc spawn and it's the only thing really defending the MEC airfield. And the hotel and surrounding hills are good for snipers/squads to hide in and strike from.
