stick with your squad? Really, one of the things that amazes me most is that people join a squad and then never take a command from the SL. I have noticed this as I have lead a few squads in the past couple days that literally no one followed my orders. I'd have the whole squad sitting waiting for a plane on the carrier or sitting a flag defending then another dude rushing this hill that was complete suicide because the enemy was focused there.
I follow my squad lead when ever I am issued a command and communication is established. One of the first things I do when I join a squad is ask for orders. Too often I get no response!

there is times I understand that it is a better move to go to a different spawn but to last an entire round with out completing one of the SL's orders is too much. I personally love being told what to do by my SL.

I'm not going to lie but in order for people to follow you it helps to be good. I know that might sound bad but it's true. Just keep playing and as your skill level increases you'll notice more people wanting to follow you into combat. Especially if they know that they're going to end up on top. In fact if I was you I would'nt even lead a squad until you become proficient at all aspects of ground-pounding.

If they go to a different squad and don't wise up, perhaps they should find another server. This site is for "teamplayers" and anyone who is NOT can play at any of the other 1000 servers out there.
One tip I've learned from playing with some of the great leaders at TTP is to not even give them that option from the beginning. For example, "this is ---, your squadleader, we're gonna kick some ass! Do what I say when I say it and we will win this game...if you don't wanna play your role and win, find another squad." But, at the same time, you must be capable and able to follow through...

When it comes to squad leading I think there are some masters. There are a few people whose names I see and I gravitate towards their squads because they are always squad leaders and do a damn good job:
TheJeep1
Ranger10
MaBell37
TriggerHappy2005
these are the first few that jump into my mind but there are others!
To be a good squad leader I recommend squadding with any of the above a number of times and pay attention to how they do things; they know their stuff when it comes to being a good squad leader. Also they tend to explain their rationale for their commands which helps increase motivation and your knowledge.
Also, like the others have stated; if a squad leader isnt assertive on the VOIP, or if they are just not very good, players will tend to start ignoring their orders. Really try this:
"who is that over there at the Material Station? come over and help your squad defend intake." if they fail kick them from the squad.
"Hey AssKicker2007 we really dont need a sniper please respawn as a medic or AT as soon as possible? thanks" if they fail, kick them.
Trigger is the guy who made me stop being a sniper all the time... heh, I learned soemthing squadding with everyone in that list; being assertive on the VOIP is especially crucial.

JB, you might also want to make a custom squad, so that you can get guys that will continually join and follow you, and not just some random guys jumping in any squad to avoid being kicked. If you see me leading it is usually the Civil squad, and if I lead for a few rounds I usually have the same SMs every round because they know they like my style, or lack thereof.

I am all for getting more skills but this was just a general rant about how rarely people stick to a SL, at least in my experience however little that is, not necessarily just my squads that I lead.
Like I said I'd rather follow orders than give them.

A squad leader is an alternate spawn point, keep that in mind when you are SL and try not to die too much (like the Soy!). There are broadly two SL tactics in the case of spawning.
1) an SL with leet skillz who does not seem to die even in the middle of a combat zone being pounded with hellfire missiles, vulcan machine guns, arty and several squads. thes SL's can just go get on the flag and act as a spawn right there!
2) the tactic I employ when playing SL because I die way too much (KD of 0.66!) is to hide nearby the objective and provide support, orders, communication and a *safe* spawn point. I look forward to the day when I am able to be a more effective SL by never dying...but who knows how long that will be!
