When I ran Vista(unless it takes off, I personally hope it doesn't for my own reasons, i will never return), but yeah I needed to get the hotfixes to play many of my games because I wouldn't CTD after I could play but rather, I would see the splash screen and then it would never load properly. So it would splash and then disappear, but the vid card drivers helped solve the issue for some games(I was really into DoD at the time) was fixed.

hmmmm, well i would try getting a hotfix from nvidia but im not having the ctd problem anymore for some reason. i have a invalid cd code problem now which doesn't allow me to play online, but i can play in single player mode. My cd code is a valid code accually i have 2 of them and neither code works and i know both are valid cause i have been playing on both of the codes, one is a old code from the first time i bought the game and the other is the complete collection. i bought that one about 4 months ago and been playing on that code, but since i reinstalled the codes dont work

I'd call EA and see what they suggest about the codes, maybe there is another alternate to going to the registry...?

unfortunately ea is no more help on the issue, all they tell me anymore is the game is not supported for vista(I think thats pretty shitty myself but thats what they tell me)

Well it could be like most tech companies someone does know but until you punch your way through the ignorant quick answer men you won't learn anything useful. And sometimes it does virtually take brute force, don't take no for an answear. Just keep prodding away, invalid cd-keys are not a vista problem.

i think it is a vista problem cause when u install the game then look at ur registry it does not show a normal cd key it gives u like a page long bianary code that is not even close to your cd code(atleast on my POS computer). The time that i got it to work i changed that page long crap to normal cd key and it worked, but now it is not working.tis quite frustraiting :5

Have you checked for missed spaces after your modifications, occasionally they'll cause problems.

Yea, i have tryed about everything i can imagine. i have almost memorized my cd key from reinstalling and entering it(about 3 times a day since this happened)Thanks for the help everyone but it looks like i will be down for awhile. i have to head outta town for work in 2 days and in about a month maybe i might be able to buy a good computer that i can run xp on(have had no problems running the game on xp)

Evil - earlier you were saying you were crashing to desktop. On the EA support site they mention a hotfix from Microsoft to correct the crashing to desktop problem for Vista users. Has something to do with Window Vista's memory management. Referenced knowledge base of 940105. Not sure if this is a problem you are still having or not or if only related to cd key now.

yea the only problem i have now is the cd code deal im not ctd anymore that was fixed the day i reinstalled the game. Thanks though i hate to say it but im gonna have to put blasting yall in the back of my head for awhile lmao
