=PHX= imposter
I don't know what to make of this. Tonight several of us =PHX= guys were playing together when we noticed something strange. A new =PHX= member. =PHX=MillSkillsPlayer. oh wait, he's not a member of our clan. how strange. I sent several messages over the main chat asking him why he was wearing our tags. I received no reply. I then joined his squad and asked him personally on VOIP why he was wearing the tags. His reply was simply "duuh, i don't know" I kindly asked him to remove them. He soon disconnected and did not return.
I apologize to Silentruin for disrupting his squad, but i believe that this was something that needed to be addressed quickly. As anyone who has been in a clan knows, we are responsible for maintaining a certain degree of professionalism on TTP servers. Our actions echo the very principles that are TTP. Imagine the chaos if just anyone could attach the same tags as resident clans and just do as they wish without any regard to TTP rules or those of said clans.
At the time we wanted to ask an admin for an immediate ban, but i do not recall reading anything in TTP rules about impersonating a clan member. That is why I decided to ask him to remove the tags and resolve it in the forums.
What bothers me most is that MillSkills is a regular on BF2 and should know better. Do you have anything to say for yourself Mill?

Re: =PHX= imposter
He isn't forum active, and from his response listed it sounds like he had no clue as to what an excuse would be. Maybe he thought =PHX= was some kind of regularity tag, I doubt he will be wearing the tag when he logs back in. I don't think he has a mic either, and he is a good team player so its kinda baffling.

Re: =PHX= imposter
I saw him too, we traded lead and i snapped a screen. But at the end of the round he was gone, so i would assume this is where Mouf made the confrontation. I'm disappointed in MillS, as he is a regular, and knows he is (was) welcome to squad with any =PHX= members...... would y'all be so kind as to drop a bug in his ear to join us in the forums?, I'm sure we'd all like a explanation, and who knows, he might become a regular here in the forums as well.

Re: =PHX= imposter
This exact issue actually came up in 2142 last week a few days ago, and the issue was never clarified... I believe that the high admins are still discussing it. It's definitely disruptive, and if players are doing it to actively impersonate a member of a resident clan, if they don't remove the tag I agree that they should be banned, but we haven't heard anything definitive yet.

Re: =PHX= imposter
Alright guys...
It's not against TTP policy to have a tag connected to your name that belongs to any clan, even a resident one. And Mouf, you're exactly right, the way TTP handles clans is that if one is a teamkilling asshat, hacker, then they probably all are, so we get rid of them all.
However, knowing that someone isn't part of your clan, would factor greatly into any punishments doled out on behalf of that individual. So I wouldn't worry about that.
We had this same issue when BSS was around. Even then, I had the same concern. However, I couldn't do anything about it, even as an admin. We can't claim to "own" tags. Maybe that person had the tag before someone else? No one knows. And since TTP only hosts clans, not creates them, that issue is left between =PHX= and Mills.
The fact is, we know Mills just put it on to be "cool", and be a member of one of the baddest clans on TTP. He didn't earn it, so give him hell about it if he keeps on fronting it. He'll learn to take it off, and go earn it.
But above all, admins cannot use their powers to enforce a "clan tag rule".
Hopefully that helps guys.
