I find that it is dependent on the map and the game itself, if we are talking vanilla I am almost entirely a Medic or support. If it is SF you will see me shed the support for AT and Assault. (I like the grappling hook )
However if the situation deems it necessary to play another kit IE close quarters I will pick up the Engie for the shottie or the sniper for the claymores.

Re: Question:Different Kits or same Kit always
It definately depends on the map. Highway Tampa is definately a good engineer/AT map. Figured I'd state the obvious.
I play medic almost exclusively. It is also good for jets because you see where your team is dying and you can strafe or place a few bombs on the area.
I don't really like support as I can't seem to hit crap with any support gun nor do I really care for assault.
You will find me lurking around as a spec op, but normally when I am near the enemies assets.

Re: Question:Different Kits or same Kit always
I play every single kit depends on the map, squad configuration, situation, sniper all other kit ratio. All depends really.
Pretty standard though if you are going to be a vehicle whore I'd suggest going engineer just because you can repair the vehicle and you can have a nice convoy of engineers repairing each other. (I suggest all pieces of armor in the same squad then).
If Im flying Im usually a kit that I need to get hours on for badge. Unless I am SL and I am bailing over a flag to cap it then I am a medic 95% of the time or spec ops the other 5%.
It all depends on what you are comfortable playing and what benefits your team the most. If you think you will benefit your team with a certain kit vs another then I'd go with the kit that benefits your team the most. If you need practice with a particular kit and you are in a good squad then I'd use the kit I would be more likely to die with (hopefully I have a good medic who can revive me multiple times before I actually need to spawn back in). Thus you would give your team mate revive points and you would also learn the kit better.
Practice makes perfect..

Re: Question:Different Kits or same Kit always
I tend to play either medic, support or AT, depending on who else is in the squad. Medic because healing/reviving is always useful (plus you have the G36E, which stands for Excellent), support because it's a relatively rare class and it's nice to have lots of ammunition/grenades for the squad, and AT because tanks are evil and I hate them. Also the DAO is fun.

Re: Question:Different Kits or same Kit always
I spend a lot of time as support. I know that I cannot reliably hit things from a long distance, but in close I enjoy mowing them down. Additonally I think it is possible to supress people. I know all those rounds are making noise at the destination.
In close quarters I do enjoy the assault G3. Lethal but short lived on the ammo.

Re: Question:Different Kits or same Kit always
I frequently use the medic kit, like everyone else.
Lately, however, I have been using the engineer kit. Something just feels bad ass about running around with a pump-action. I use the spec ops kit is also a fairly effective kit. If your quick and utilize cover good you can take out tanks, but it always pisses me off when I run from hella far away only for them to back up right when I get there. The Scar-L is awesome, I just wish it was the Scar-H.
To sum it up, I switch it all the time.
