Who are the best gunship pilots on the server?

I know there was a YouTube of a guy doing. The whole thing was set up like a tutorial to show people that you could do stunts with the gunship. I saw it ages ago, and I can't find it now. He would go into the 3rd person view and actually explain how he was doing it all. It wasn't to show off. Most of the stuff I saw from going through several dozen vids just now was people jumping out of the gunship in the air and then getting back in. It saddens me for it was one of the great BF 2142 training videos along with one done in a similar manner for knifing. Both of those have apparently gone the way of the dodo.

17 kills withthe SAAW in 3 rounds tonight, and the 3rd round I didn't even use the SAAW. Wish I was recording the party on Suez. Had 2 gunships doing circles looking for me, kept knocking them down. One guy was flying straight at me and the 2 shots I had already launched caught up with him from behind about 10 ft over my head. Luckily forward momentum saved me from bodily harm. Either way, I scooted to another firing position.

So I proved myself wrong tonight. You can to a barrel roll. Its based on the fact that that increasing spead allows you to create up to a 45* roll normally but if you keep at it the gunship will allow a barrel roll of 90* within about 5-8 seconds using a variation of increase of throttle. I believe if you are dodging someone this could allow you to do a 180* inverted flip to avoid a take down as the shields last roughly 10 seconds. So assuming you were able to gain a slight distance this is a reasonable tactic. I asked Frag and he was not sure; are there any freeware vid screen capture softwares out there as I can take a few to make some vids of things you can do with the gunship?

Now, of all the maneuvers he does, I would consider only 2 or three to be actual barrel rolls; and sloppy ones at that. His pattern might prove useful as method of escape or recovering from flipping upside down, but I think it's mostly useless as an attack pattern.

For anyone trying to become a better pilot I recommend training the habits of looking around and don't worry about fancy maneuvers. Most of the time I get shot down it's not because I got outmaneuvered, it's because I didn't see something. So this is advise that I give to y'all, but this is also advise that I'm trying very hard to take myself.

But by all means, when we meet in the skies, please use only the default tunnel vision.

I must confess the last few days most of my deaths have not been due to lack of sight or anything else battle related. It's been due to game crashes on my end and internet disconnects. I think it's pretty dumb that when this happens my non-responsive soldier crashes into the ground and counts as a death.

My sincere apologies to the brave gunners who have stepped into the cockpit with me only to share in my pointless demise.

I've just gone through considerable efforts to clean up my machine and reinstalled the game. Hopefully next time I'm on I won't have as many problems.

And I have yet to face Laggy on the battlefield since he began SAWW sniping, so we'll see what happens to my K/D ratio then. I'd like to maintain a ratio over 7.0, but it's getting awful darn hard to do now that I'm regularly taking gunners along with me.

Well, actually... unless I'm mistaken, the k/d ratio you are referring to is based upon how many times you have died against a gunship vs how many kills you have flying the gunship. So laggy's SAAW killing you thousands of times wouldn't move that k/d ratio even .01.

Yes it would because if he dies with less kills than he usually gets the ratio would start going down because instead of 10 kills and 1 death (10 k/d) he would get 10 kills and 5 deaths (2 k/d). as you can see k/d is very sensitive.
