I'd check for in-game recorders. A lot of games have them (not all though) for benchmarking...

Why?
Scar-L is a great weapon and shoots 3 bullets every one click of your mouse. The Scar-L is a great damage-dealer against many special infected. With the Laser Sight it's even better. It has got more accuracy and it's easier to kill while running around. Sometimes I choose the AK-47, 'cause I like high damage-dealing weapons.
The Katana is quick and also damage-dealing. Even though sometimes I choose the Fireaxe over the Katana.

Uzi w/ Laser Sight
Fireaxe
Boomer Bile
First Aid Kit
Adrenaline

Why? The Uzi is a weapon that I always loved and that rarely goes unknown in many FPS/TPS games.
The Fireaxe is a nice damage-dealing weapon, even though it's slow. But I don't care, since Sub-Machines are a bit weak, I always carry with me a good melee weapon.

Shotgun Combo
Spas-12 w/ Laser Sight
Dual Pistols (Glock + P220)
Boomer Bile
First Aid Kit
Adrenaline

Why? Spas-12 is really powerful and quick to kill any infected with at least 1-2 shots. Even though sometimes I use the Benelli M1014.
Dual Pistols are cool, fast and a little bit good damage-dealers. Plenty of ammunition and always easy to get. I rarely use melee with shotguns 'cause shotguns don't have much ammunition and melee'ing infected with shotgun isn't just me, you know.

Why the Boomer Bile, Adrenaline and First Aid Kit for all of them? The Boomer Bile is often cool to defeat hordes easily and to blind special infected such as the Tank or any other. The Adrenaline takes off all of my rush, lowering the game music that usually gets me stressed when I'm in the finale and also giving me temporaly health. Why not the Defibrillator? I rarely see a survivor go down easily and the First Aid Kit helps me more than the Defibrillator helps an survivor.

So, what are your combos?

I like the M16/katana combo. The high acurecy of the M16, and the speed and strength of the katana is just ausome. I used to like the AK for its strength, but I love shooting the M16 for some reason and stuck with the M16 for a while. Went back to the AK, now I cant shoot worth a crap with it. So I just stick with the M16 combo.

The shotgun with dual pistols was a great combo in L4D, but in L4D2 the decreased the ammo capacity of the two shotguns sucks so bad that I find myself runing out of ammo with them. But I do love shooting the SPAS.

Personally i think the SCAR is a great weapon, espeically when combined with fire/frag rounds. I luv the scar.

I think what ever weapon you use should compliment you side arm. If you use a shottie or Gernade laucher you should have double pistols or magnums.

If you use a sniper you should use a melee weapons.

When using machine guns i think anything works... Wether its a melee weapon, pistols or magnum.

Counter Strike was one of the best Valve FPS games.

I usually take the environment into consideration. If I'm inside, I usuallygo with shotguns, because chances are things will get prett tight. I'd I'm outside, I'll look for an M16 or AK, for the distance shots and accuracy.

For a side arm, I go with melée usually. It works well for boomer attacks and other hoard situations (for me at least)
