I never understood the comparisons. Its really only what games you like better on either system.

The "free online play" excuse is fucking bullshit - because 1) you spend 60 dollars on a single game, and 2) its only 4 dollars a month to play online for an extremely reliable and durable network rarely, if ever, goes offline.

If 4 dollars a month is too much for you, you've got other problems to worry about.

*shrug* idk, maybe its me being a smoker in NYC, but 4 dollars a month seems like nothing to me.

Personally, I only got xbox because I like the controller better and more friends play on live.

Eh I'd like to see some examples of why PSN is supposedly so bad. I keep hearing so much bad stuff about it, why? Just because there are less players? If Valve started releasing more games on PS3 their audience would grow on that platform. And if they allowed mods and custom maps, it might even be as big as the Xbox 360 audience.

The achievements are a joke, the spamming of messages is immensely ridiculous, and their dedicated game library is poor. Only one of my friends owns a PS3, and he never plays it. I also just personally hate blue ray.

People who complain about paying for LIVE should keep in mind that it does take a fair amount of cash to keep the network and servers in working order. Sony and Nintendo don't charge for online services because it gives them an advantage over the competition, but one must wonder how much running these networks for "free" is cutting into their profits.

The big question is this: Which console will still have dedicated servers online and in working order 5 years from now?

No, he is saying that their servers will die faster due to lack of profits.

Also, for the PS3 owners, if they do get Steam and build a new fanbase, once they are more popular than the 360, whats to stop them from charging for their service? Eylof is right when he says that free network is a perk, but Sony is pretty greedy, and if they do match the 360 fanbase, whats to stop them from turning just as evil as Microsoft?

Sony is giving it for free. Not much so...heard of Premium?

So Sony, can and will be greedy, it's just their blind fanbase that don't see.

Honestly, i don't hate Sony, i love my PS2 and PSP, but i cannot stand the PS3 due to the ignorance the fanbase shows when it comes to other consoles.

I chose the Xbox 360 out of personal preference, i'm not going to be pressured into choosing the PS3 because the fanboys want me to. Back in 08 i started saving for a Next Gen console, was unsure between the 360 and PS3. Was impressed with the PS3 for the most part, after playing on my cousins i wanted one. But reading message boards on the official Playstation site made me want to gouge my eyes out. So much bile and hate towards other consoles. So i drew towards 360 after that. PS3 fanboys even consider the PC and MAC to be inferior to the PS3.

Both consoles have their pros and cons, and neither is better than the other.
