    Macro keys wrong?

Just wondering if i bmacro keys on my G15 keyboard if its legal or not. In CSS i have my jump cruch macro so i can high jump better. I dont know what id macro cuz i havnt played enough yet to see what i could better from. I noticed a player was banned for macroing in the choper to fire tv missle, so this is clearly not allowed but are there macros that are? I bought the key board to help my gaming with macros that can be done with out but just makes it faster.

    Re: Macro keys wrong?

If you are creating a combination that would allow you to do things that are not inherent to the game developers intentions then that would be a "no go". If what you did allows you to "jump" higher and that is not part of the normal game structure, then that would be considered a cheat and would be a "ban-able" offense.

Using the keys on your g-15 keyboard to make something more convenient without altering the software is allowed.

I'm curious about this too... I've been reluctant to set up any macros as of yet, since it's a little shaky as to what constitutes an unfair advantage. For example, most people would say that binding a few different buy orders in CS:S is ok: it adds convenience, while not really giving you something that other players don't have. Now, what about a bind for one of your mouse thumb buttons that throws a grenade, and then switches back to your main weapon? It doesn't carry out the movements any faster, but it does turn it in to a single click instead of three. And if that's ok, then what about a bind that fires three shots in rapid succession, to use burst fire with a rifle that doesn't have it normally?

It's hard to draw the line, in my eyes.

imo it is when you think you may be pushing it that you already have. Never worth getting hit by the ban stick to get the convenience of rapid fire or faster nade throws if you ask me.

You can get buy scripts which is completely legal in all forms of cs.. Some servers have no round start time which make it to where you have to have a buy script or else you will be standing in a buy zone like an idiot for 5 - 6 seconds.. This cuts the time to the press of a button.. And you buy m4 full nades armor ect.. I've never seen a problem with this before, actually most servers encourage it.

As far as macros go the crouch jump macro is questionable.. Thats just like making a bunny hop macro.. if you cant bhop legit in the game then dont have a script do it for you.. Ive seen countless people able to bhop without a script its just another form of skill.. Anyhow I quit cs long ago so..

Also when I played cs I had my mouse4 bound to switch from left to right handed so when I would throw a nade I could switch hands depending on the angle I was throwing.. Was this legal? Absolutely because its a simple command you put in the console that is bound. Its a bindable key.

Now if you go through making aliases scripts ect.. thats another story and it gets complicated like nade scripts.. Every server has their own rules they enforce. If you wanna read a rule book real the cpl or cal rule book on scripts thats a pretty generic guide to what 9/10 servers allow.

    Re: Macro keys wrong?

I would imagine that using the console provided by the game developers to move certain actions to keys that make more sense for you, then that would be legit. One action = One key, or two as BF2 provides a slot for a secondary key. Example, i have weapon 6 keyed to #6 and my left thumb button on the mouse. This is provided for by the developers thus legit.

If you were to write something into the program that allowed a string of those actions to take place at the touch of one button, that would be a NO GO. Example would be a script that would , switch to Nade, throw nade at full power, send a pre determinded team message at the time nade is thrown, then switch back to original weapon all by simply pressing #8.

    Re: Macro keys wrong?

I dont want to write a script. I simply want to know if i bind 2 keys to one key like jump and crouch in css to my G5 key does that mean im cheating? Everyone seems to go to the extreme with this. Setting up 4-5+ commands to one key. Using the g15 keyboard to set marcos does in no way modify or make scripts for a game. It simply says ok when he hits g6 im supposed to Ctrl+Space or w/e. Just 2 maybe 3 commands tops like that. nothing of the pull a nade out, throw it, switch back to gun, set to burst fire, fire twice, duck. lol i might have gone a lil far but you get my point. That would take away from the game and make it easier for "me" to kill half the team before they even knew i was there.

    Re: Macro keys wrong?

I hate all this crap talk about macros...use the fing keyboard like the rest of us or go somewhere else...that's my opinion. I hate running into guys that are jumping one second and then lying flat the next...play with the keys on the keyboard like the rest of us.

This is like steroids in baseball...using something that no one intended the game to have. Some tech freak comes out with a keyboard that lets you put all of this crap into one key and you want to use it for only one thing...TO HAVE AN ADVANTAGE OVER EVERYONE ELSE!

I don't speak for this server or it's admins but I think it should be a bannable offense and outlawed for any use, at any level, to any degree, on this server.
