setting up lan party server
Hey,
I'm going to have a few friends over tommrow and I would like to set up a server for us to play on with bots. I wish we could all get on TTP but my internet can't handle that much LOL. I would like it to be on 64 player maps with max bots but it will only let me have up to 32 players on a 16 player map with one way I config it. And if i do the simple in game "create local" then I can do 32 player map if i remember correctly but its still not 64 with max bots. I also can not set my rcon stuff (couldn't log in) even after I set the password. If any one has any advise or knows of a way to set up a 64 player map with 50 bots I would kiss your boot.
Thanks!

Re: setting up lan party server
He's looking for help, not senseless posts guys....
From experience Wild, the only local servers you can get going will only be 16 player maps. Otherwise you need to set up a dedicated server. I'd be more than happy to help you with the setup. add me on xfire if you want, hobbespsk.

Check to see if there are some mods out there that will handle 64 player. Try this one http://users.on.net/~codebasher/. I've used version 1 to practice flying. You may be able to get it to work.

Re: setting up lan party server
thanks for all the info. I know I can set it up as dedicated and that is what I was going to do. I thought about doing the mod but that's even more work lol. I have the stand alone server figured out and was going to do it that way. it won't actually be a stand alone because once it is up and running I was going to play it on the same computer but that is my main gaming rig... amd opt 185 (dual core 64bit 2.6ghs stock 2gig ram) I just wanted to have the full maps with the stupid bots to add to the fun.
I know its bad math with computers vs people but im only going to take 2 of my computers and where we are going to play they don't have much money.

Re: setting up lan party server
I would get them on the server but the best internet the could get out there is dial up and there is no way in hell you could get 5 ppl to play on dial up. Unless technology has changed lol.
Thanks every one for your input and ideas. I ended up setting up on a 16 player map and showing them some things in the chopper, which got them more intrested in BF2 then any thing else. We had 40 bots and I would switch who was my gunner each round. It went well and was a blast. I hope I can get on tonight and deflate my ego of not getting shot down. I know they were bots and even with there setting at 100% they are still not good enough to take me out lol.
