    The Revivers

on the maps like camp gib and cebere landing you need to keep as much tickets as possible. so what if one squad was only dedicated to revining people?
only whiping out the guns for dire need, like a fight in close combat.
if this squad is a good idea, and people like it, then these would be the requiermentsf course, you need the defibulator. unless there is some other way to revine people.(i've seen people shoot rockets at dead people to revine them?)it would also be good to be a fast hotkey switcher.(you know 1=knife, ect.)
the squad would be called the reviners(or however you spell it )and it would be good to have people with mics or that have read this thread(to know whats going on)
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
    Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

    Re: The Revivers

Sounds like a good idea....in theory.

The problem is that everyone you would be reviving is in the thick of it (what you call close combat) and the revivers would be in "dire need" all the time to defend themselves.

This would also shut down an entire squad from TAKING tickets from the other team.

As a medic, your first and foremost action should be to look for and revive team members when you are not being shot at directly.

Although I like that you're thinking outside the box

    Re: The Revivers

I don't think it's a bad idea for Camp Gibralter if you're EU defending toll and the whole team is camped out here. However, Cebere Landing tends to be a much more fluid map with squads all over. There likely won't be a centralized point that 1 squad of revivers can manage. This is also complicated by the fact that there's no way for one squad to directly talk to another one.

Often times on ticket-heavy maps, medics make a huge component of the squad. Usually, 3 medics, 1 support with infantry sonar (the SL is a good choice for this if they don't have a beacon down), and 1 other depending on the situation (sniper or engie) is how I like the squads if I'm SLing.

    Not a bad thought, though!

And if you see a ar rocket revieving someone. It's usually an EA glitch on your side. They actually have their defib out but for some reason or another that little packet of info didn't get sent to your computer.

    Re: The Revivers

I'm glad someone bring up the topic of reviving. So i will take this opportunity to speak my mind.

It seems that many players do not realize the importance of reviving. I say this out of experience in the server. If you are a medic it is your job to revive not to kill. When you see a dead teammate on ur radar you must leave what you are doing and go out of your way to revive.

Even if your not a medic, find a medic KIT and revive fallen teammates. It's disappointing that the best 2142 server lacks revives. I'm not talking out of one or two experiences, I've been noticing this trend for a while now. I've seen ppl walk away from fallen medics when they should pickup their kit and revive. I've seen medics run after the enemy instead of reviving. I've seen medics abandoning their shadowing positions without notice.

If you want to become a medic act like one. Don't assume a super soldier position and only use ur health pack for yourself. Die trying to revive, thats what u r there for.

If your not a medic and u see a dead guy on the ground, at least checkout his kit before you walk away. Even if you die, you died for your teammate.

Another thing that bothers me and I hear a lot. "STOP REVIVING ME I WANT TO CHANGE MY KIT", what the fuck is that all about. Since when can medics read your thoughts? Dont be ungrateful and dont be an idiot because you can always suicide. If you find yourself in that position where you have to make that statement, at least make it with a nice tone, dont make it sound like the guy that revived you is a total idiot. Because of silly statements like that I find myself in awkward positions thinking whether this dude wants to get revived or not, and I don't need to be thinking about that in a war zone. From now on I'm letting everyone know, if your dead I'm reviving, if you dont want to live, suicide. If you whine because I revive you in a danger zone and you keep dying, shutup, because I made it and so should you.

Don't discourage any revive, because every revive is a REVIVE. You dont want to live, suicide.

Of course I can't say all of this without noting that there are plenty of great medics in TTP, I post this not because I'm complaining, Im posting this because I want everyone on TTP to be a great medic.

    Re: The Revivers

I agree. I make it a point to revive anyone I see, unless the fire is too heavy. I will, if playing another kit, pick up an assault kit and revive a fallen player. I know it sucks to get up without the kit you started with, but at least you saved a death. And sometimes you get stuck in the spawn screen when revived which can lead to another untimely demise....sorry about that. But I keep reviving you until you get clear.

    Re: The Revivers

Now, I see where you both are coming from, and I agree that it's incredibly frustrating to sit there in the Critically Wounded screen and watch five or six medics on the minimap walk by without so much as a wave. It pisses me off, and more people should make the effort, especially if they already have a medic kit, to revive their falled teammates.

However - and I know this has been said before but I'm going to say it again - as a medic, when you see someone get gunned down in front of you, your first job is to make sure that the person that killed them isn't still in the area. I can't count the number of times I die, get revived a few seconds later, and then the two of us get shot in the head. This is doing absolutely nothing for the team other than causing an even longer delay before respawn, and losing two tickets instead of one.

So, in summation: reviving everybody is good. Reviving someone while their killer is sitting 20 feet away, sighting at the two of you and grinning: bad.

    Re: The Revivers

I make a point to revive anyone I can, but there are times when reviving is pointless because you have some sniper or a support person overlooking your position and they just kill them again.

The people who piss me off are the ones who take my kit and then don't have the courtesy to revive me.

    Re: The Revivers

As a medic myself, I'll take it a step futher with an unlikely yet believable scenario. Let's say Pasha gets killed and you're in range to revive him or even pick up his kit to revive him if you're not a medic to begin with. You have two choices, revive Pasha or let him rot for 15 seconds.

Let's say you decide to ignore his cries for a medic and continue on your merry way and at the end of the round, you fought the good fight, but your teams loses by almost 20 tickets. Now time to look at the flip side of the coin.

You rush over to revive Pasha as soon as you notice he goes down. He gives you a "Nice, thanks!" and continues on his own path of destruction and revives. The end of the round comes and your team wins by almost 20 tickets. What made the difference? That one revive. And because of that one revive, teammates lived and were revived who would have otherwise died and as a result, enemies died who would have otherwise lived.

On a side note, you should never stand in one place to revive someone when there's a danger of getting a cap in your ass. From a standpoint of tickets, its better to get the revive and live then it is to get the revive and die with him right after because someone was shooting at you. That said if its easy to take the enemy out before the revive then do it. As a medic though what people should be learning to do is the running revive. That's where you run out of cover, rez the dead guy and keep running to the next cover without ever stopping.

    Re: The Revivers

One thing not touched in this thread yet is 'revivee' etiquette. If somebody goes through the trouble of reviving you, get your punk ass of the f**king ground and run like hell. Should your killer be camping on your corpse, at least you'll have a better chance of surviving. And if you know where the killer was, starting laying down suppressing fire in that direction. Make the medic's efforts worth it.
