Re: unlocks
prestb_97, when you do get your unlock, read though some of the other psot in regards to Unlocks. I think you'll find all the information you ever want to know about unlocks, if you just a little.
I think many of the folks in these forums reply to threads about UNLOCKS just about every week, or you might have had more response.
Good luck with your unlocks and choose wisely!

Re: unlocks
To help break the ice prestb, when I got my first unlock, I chose the spec ops upgrade and was happy with it. The upgrade I was least satisfied with was the engineer kit. Make sure you understand the promotion scale in battlefield 2. I did not make 1st SGT at 30,000 points and started over at 38,000 points which was stupid on my part. - I wanted the L-96 sniper rifle which was new at the time and didn't want to wait for 50000 points.
Keep in mind that sometimes you will get promoted and it can take a while before you get to choose your unlocks.
Another note of interest, buying and installing special forces will double your unlocks if my memory serves me correctly.
Texas teamplayers hosts a special forces server to boot.

Re: unlocks
As you progress through the ranks and earn unlocks, I suggest you pick the weapon that coresponds to the position you feel the LEAST comfortable with. If you pick a weapon to enhance a position you like or feel is your strength, you will delay or ignore the necessary advancement required for the position you like least. Learn to become a well rounded player early and you will benefit in the long run.
Remember, it's not all about points at TTP, it's mostly about what you offer to the team to be victorious.

Re: unlocks
Civil weighed in and I will too.
The medic upgrade, L-85a is one badass weapon. Takes a while to figure out how to hit anything with it, but once you figure it out, it have some serious punch.
Main thing is choose wisely. You do NOT have to unlock immediately, you can just hit cancel and it will ask next time you login.

Re: unlocks
Even the standard guns are a matter of preference. I do not like the AK guns but there are other people in the game that do very well with them. I think everyone has their own preference on what gun works best for them as an upgrade. Like Civil I did feel like the PKM was a good unlock. I did not particularly like the L-85 medic gun but on the other hand the G36E medic unlock is my favorite. Unlike CSRob's advice, I would say take the unlock that you think will do you the most good to improve your chances of killing someone on the first unlock. It takes points to get unlocks and as long as you are helping your team there is no problem getting points. There is no problem playing your best kit until the SL asks for something specific. Once you have mastered the basics of the game, then work on mastering the other kits.

Re: unlocks
Well put Slowmotionman, although I think both you and CBrob have sound philosophies. One one hand, pick the hardest weapon and become a monster with that, then the easiest weapons will be a walk in the park.
On the other hand, keep advancing in the direction where you are best, then you will be able to unlock all the kits without having to use the cheap ones in some kits. Then when you are required to play your least best kit, you will already have the best unlock.
I went with the latter option, but see the merit in option one as well.
It's just a matter of personal preference, determiend by your style of play. Wisely choose, you shall.
