Re: SAAW Squad
well - not being a SAAW person myself my opinion on this matter might not weigh very heavily, but....I think that the usefulness of this type of squad might diminsh quickly once the other team begins loses most of its air power. At that point, your team might find themselves effectively down a squad. Of course, that SAAW squad could always retool with a kit change, but there might still be some lag time in terms of when they rejoined existing operational orders from Commander. I think that generally it would be better for isolated members of a squad to request that assignment from the Com/SL and take it from there. That way, you still have a squad at 5/6th or 4/6 tackling other objectives.

Actually Alundil, that happens often. I've sat out in front of the enemy titan for up to 10 minutes at a time and not a single aircraft will take off. Of course, some bastard like Krommonkey will come hunting for me in an APC and ruin my blissful state of zen and the sand garden I'd so carefully cultivated.
At most, I think an anti-air/air supression squad would need 3 people. Either all 3 SAAW's spread out with a LOT of support from the commander, or 2 SAAWs spread out with a shuttling Support class person. Which hmmmm.... sentry gun backing up one AA guy and the Support guy shuttling back and forth in an FAV backing up the other AA guy. Remember, just don't get out of the vehicle, it will then show up on the minimap.

What about 3 support in 3 jeeps supporting 3 AA? That way each AA subsquad could keep mobile say if the enemy decided using aircraft was pointless, local flags need capping, or it becomes time for Titan D/Titan A/mobile silo capping duty. That would also leave 2 AA plus back up on the ground still able to take out aircraft.
Of course if you really want to have some fun, do the Fat Dragon technique, and when enemy aircraft come around have the pilot position you for shots. I gave a gunship quite the surprise a few nights back doing that. He thought he had a broadside ready for the transport, he had already activated his shields from an earlier lock on I had, and then 2 to the face with no shields for protection. :2 :6enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

You have to wait for the shields to go up wait maybe a second or two and then let em fly. Also, pick your targets well. Shooting two rounds at a fast moving gunship that ducks and weaves will only waste the rounds. It'll still freak em out though. Good pilots won't let it faze them, but the pilots who only think they're good will start spazing if you stick with it. That's how I got one gunship last night; it took all of my rounds, but he went from ducking and weaving to trying fancy and maneuvers, which meant his ass was mine. Then, I got resupplied by a lovely support chap.

this could be highly effective. and on a map like that while in jeeps, you can still get flags.
